Day 606: Lucky Tuesday
Apr. 9th, 2008 08:00 amIn the tradition of badly prepared advocates in front of the Nebraska Supreme Court, I shall first address Monday.
It should have been a great day. After all, it was just Con Law, no property. I could've gone straight home after Con Law to get things done. Did I? No. An evil spirit of "blah" came over me, and so I stuck around had had nachos (the price of which went to charity) and talked to Paul, Mark, Brian, and Matt about life, the universe, and everything. I made it home by one with every intent of getting something done. I did not. Well, I filled out my FAFSA, which was good. Then I went and got my soul stolen by a game of Sudoku and some left-over X Japan madness. It was about five when I realized that I really hadn't gotten anything else useful done (although in my defense I hadn't heard back from Professor K about my motion brief) and so I decided I ought to skip FHE (they were playing basketball anyway, and I didn't feel like it) and get homework done. So I did contracts. And that was it. I only got one subject done on Monday, and felt like a prat for it. It sucked.
Yesterday, however, was my lucky day. I paid good attention in K and I think that I am, foolishly, understanding things. Or I at least think I understand things and will once again be proven horribly wrong on the final exams. We had no Torts, which was kinda sad, but I got my Con Law reading done in the interim, so while everyone else was spazzing for the huge reading due today I was done. Granted, I did get started last week. At lunch I headed off to Institute (which is officially the JRCLS) and we had elections. And pizza. Really good pizza from a place I'd never heard of, but it was awesome. When I got into the courtroom (because we hold meetings in one of the practice courtrooms) Rich told me I was in the lead. I was pleased for about half a second until I realized that I was the only one who'd run for secretary. I wondered what it meant, that the only person who'd run for secretary was a female. But I let it go - a secretary in an organization is hardly like one in an office. And really, there are only three of us girls, and one of us graduates this May, so there it is. I won, needless to say. The guy I voted for President didn't win, but the guy who did is a good guy. For a while there I was the only new JRCLS officer who wasn't wearing fatigues. It was weird.
I paid very good attention in Civ Pro with Whitten, though I had been sorely tempted to skip. And even though I was paying good attention, I still managed to write a letter for Logan. After Civ Pro I went and did lots of property homework. The amount of material we have to cover in the last week and a half in class is seriously ridiculous, but that's life. And he won't do a review for finals, either, so we're on our own. I had time to take a nap and do even more homework before heading off for legal writing. I got an email that said it wasn't in our usual room in the library, which I thought was odd, but when Professor K showed up she was bearing food. It was great - lasagne, salad, and bread sticks. So we ate and talked. I liked it a lot. I got some questions answered (whether or not I asked them) and that was that.
Afterwards I went home and got more things done. I paid some bills, put Logan's letter in an envelope to send off (and this includes decorating said envelope with girly flowers and wax seals and whatnot) and then buckled down to do my paper. I worked on the evil thing for about an hour and a half, by the end of which I thought my brain was going to explode. Luckily for me, my trust friend Schu was online. She patched through Brad and Farf, and we goofed around RP-ing for a bit before Farf and I had to head to bed. It was a good day yesterday. Long and hard, and I feel like a lame brain for goofing off on Monday, but I will get this paper done.
Watch me.
