This week, southeastern Idaho has been doing its best impression of England by basically being cold and rainy all the flippin' time. Which means I've basically had a headache...all week. At this point, I'd rather it snow than have this constant rollercoaster of pressure changes while it rains, clears, more clouds roll in, it rains, clears, and the cycle repeats. It kinda feels like I have a soccer team of pixies running around in my skull, bouncing off of things and kicking repeatedly. It also means I've been pretty nauseous and cranky, and have to imbibe caffeinated soda to stave off the worst of the headaches if I want to get anything done, which also means I have no appetite, and...ugh. It was so bad on Friday that I came home from work two hours early and hid in bed, because the light was bringing me much pain.

On the other hand, some things have been good this week. It was my mother's birthday, and she loved the story I wrote. My sister sent me preliminary drawings for the story, and next weekend I'm heading down south to see some friends, buy a wedding gift, and also get the story mocked up to be made into a real book. I finished making and/or writing pretty much all my Christmas presents, although some of the presents still need to be stitched together.

I started learning some seriously cool but kinda slow-core tribal choreography. It's the sort of stuff I always wanted to learn but never thought I'd be good at, and I'm having fun with it. On the other hand, I seem to have completely forgotten the cabaret veil number I learned for another class, and seeing how I'm supposed to be performing it in a couple of weeks, I'd probably better get on it and do my best to remember it. Oh dear.

In Kenpo I picked up a couple of new techniques, and we had some interesting discussions about horror movies and the like, and also we made noise about little Carl testing for his black belt and Cody going for his next rank. I kind of adored this week's episode of Supernatural. It was both hilarious and really, really sad (although I totally called the twist in Sam's flashback at the end) and I am excited to see what happens next.

On the recommendation of a friend, I've started listening to a book on tape, Georgette Heyer's "Sylvester". Seeing how I was never much of a fan of Austen's writing style, I didn't think I'd like the book much, but I decided to brave it because it was read by none other than Richard Armitage. As it turns out, I think I'd actually be all right with reading Georgette Heyer's books, because although she does that weird convoluted changing of POV with little warning, her style is a little more modern and also it's seriously funny, the kind of dry Trollope-like humor I learned to love in high school. Also, Richard Armitage is fantastic as a reader, and not just because he has a wonderful voice. I found myself laughing a lot, and it was good times.

Yesterday was really special because I got to watch Cody's older brother get sealed to his parents. His aunt and uncle and some cousins were there to witness the event as well. Afterward, the sealer was asking who everyone was, and he was pretty confused by my presence, since it was pretty obvious that one of us was not like the others. But once Cody explained that I was sealed to him, me hanging around and hugging people made more sense. We all went out to lunch afterwards, and after much conversation, decided to start up the Sunday night pie tradition. The tradition had pretty much died with Grandma, and it's been nearly six months since I'd seen Aunt Kay or Uncle Greg. (Sometimes I think his name is Uncle Ken, but I think I just get mixed up.) So tonight, once I get the laundry done and a loaf of bread made and other chores done, we're going to meet up and have some pie.

It's going to be awesome.

Hopefully this week the weather will clear up and I won't be so fuzzy-headed. I've got some pretty big projects coming up that need done.

I also made good headway on my novel, so I'm excited. My poor husband has been working himself sore at the forge and has a headache that's probably a result of all the back pain he's worked himself into.

Also, I am going to attempt to use my mother's shiny new Kindle for a Skype call tonight to see if it works.
