Right now I am...full of lazy. Luxuriating in the awesomeness that is twenty hours a week of my life I have back. I celebrated my first Saturday of no practice by having a lie-in. And then trashing out on fic. And then...well...going to testing was not necessarily celebrating.

I was nervous. And stiff when I got there, so I stretched out like crazy. Angela came with, which was super awesome of her. We watched the kids test first, and there was one tiny blond boy, couldn't have been more than five, who was super adorable. One of those kids that made me want to have kids. If only they grow up to be as cute.

Dan L. was testing for black today - and he got it. But only after insanity. Sensei Marr made Dan stand in the corner with his arms out in front of him and his black belt across his arms and was ordered not to let the belt touch the floor. If he wasn't holding his belt, he had his arms out to the side. Or doing jabs and reverse punches. Non-stop during the kid testing.

And then our testing came up. I was terrified. We did line drills across the floor - rolls and punches, kicks and cartwheels, straight lines and freestyle. Between each line, while the rest of us were going, after Dan got done with his line, he had to go stand in the corner in human cross. I felt so, so bad for him. He looked really, really exhausted. I was terrified. I have pretty decent technique with punches and my front kick. My lead leg side kick is okay. My roundhouse is full of lame. And I'm pretty sure I biffed up my combat techniques, which made me pretty sad. Watching what the higher ranked belts did, though, kinda terrified me. And watching what Dan went through - he was like a broken man.

Afterwards, the senseis told him he'd made it. According to Sensei Tomie, though, they pretty much mind-raped poor Dan first, making him think he'd failed. But then they told him he'd made it, and he was pretty much crying. I can't remember the last time I saw such relief on someone's face. I told Angela that was what we'll look like when they tell us we passed the bar.

Then Angela and I went back to my place to catch some Merlin, because she had not seen the eighth episode, which was some of my favorite moments from Arthur (and Bradley James as an actor) ever. Then she took off home to prep to teach Relief Society, and I went to D&D, which was awesome. We have a new player who is a neophyte to the gaming system altogether. His name is Johnny (so now we have Lawyer John, Little John, and Johnny), and he's a pretty awesome guy. Nice and mature and cheerful, if a bit overzealous about wanting to know details. Somehow, I also ended up as the de facto party leader until Lawyer John gets back. Awesome.

I found out from Tomie that I was not going up for stripes on my belt either, it would seem. Even though I train with the adults, I am actually a straight up adult, as it turns out, so I was actually testing for yellow.

I don't think I passed, but it was a good learning experience nonetheless. I need to train harder. Tomie also gave me a switch so I can learn to defend myself with it (I'm excited for when we learn to defend ourselves with a dime), and then Angela and I watched the latest episode of Merlin.

I will confess, some actors look full of weird when they kiss. Colin Morgan as Merlin just looked...adorable. I think it's the cheekbones. And the eyelashes. And I hate to say it, since it sounds kid of crass and rude usually, but he has a really pretty mouth. So he got two very innocent kisses in, and I was all, "Awww, Merlin finally gets kisses." (Johnny at D&D likes Merlin, too, which is a plus.) And then we saw the previews for next week's episode, and I'm like, well, Arthur just has to one-up poor Merlin and his sweet innocent kisses by getting full-on snogs.

Figures.

Still, I am excited for next week's episode. There has to be one blonde false love per season, it seems. And, of course, it's Arthur who gets her.

Bradley James is undeniably attractive, and it seems the producers of the show are going out of their way to get as much mileage out of shirtless!Arthur as they can (although I like to think Bradley James has acting chops beyond his good looks), but Colin Morgan just sort of wins on an adorableness factor.

Still, it's been a good weekend.
