So I had all kinds of summer plans. Some awesome, some mundane. So far it seems I'm going them.

I planned on getting started on emergency preparedness, so yesterday, after giving up some old furniture to Jason and seeing his new place, Angela and I went shopping - for emergency supplies (72-hour kits) and some new furniture for me so I can further organize my place. It was fun, running around all day. Once our shopping was done, we got pizza at Costco (we got stuff there) and then watched Criminal Minds together. After Criminal Minds we went over to Dan's to watch a movie, a Simon Pegg film called "Run, Fat Boy, Run", which was heartwarming and quirky in Simon Pegg's way.

Today I got my hair done - because I'm vain and once in a while like girly things - and then Angela and I did the last of our emergency shopping. Which was nice. It's also Angela's birthday on Sunday, so we plotted for her birthday a bit. The two big ticket items on my summer plan list are almost done - I need a few more supplies to get my 72-hour kits fully ready, but once I organize them and put them together, they'll be good to go. Then I have to reorganize my apartment, which at this point really only demands me rearranging some furniture, quasi-building more furniture, and organizing from there. I'm pretty excited. Since today was nice and sunny, though, I sat out on the apartment deck for the first time and read. I told myself I'd read all the books I hadn't had a chance to get to, and I would sit out in the sun to do it. And so I did. I read the entirety of City of Glass and absolutely loved it. I got that feeling that I always get when I finish a book or a series for the first time, that little longing in my chest, the sadness that the book is done, and it's a nice feeling to have, if bittersweet. I hope to feel it more this summer.

Now that it's cooled off a bit, I plan on eating leftover pizza and getting my life in order. So far the summer has been great. I talked to my new boss to see about getting ready for work, and it sounds like some of us might be going to Worlds of Fun at the end of the month, which will be cool. We've got a WoD mixed game up and on the rise online, which Ericka and I will alternately GM. Also, I finished one of those stories I owe. So far, the summer is looking pretty bright, no matter how cloudy the skies may be.

Summer time, here I come!
