As it turns out, the brain-deadedness that supposedly comes after a long haul of studying doesn't actually nail me the day finals end but kicks in the next day and then...lingers. Friday was a pretty chill day. I attempted to clean my apartment some as the sister missionaries were coming for a visit (met the newest transfer) and I did laundry. A whole lot of laundry. Had to convert my stash of changes into laundry quarters, and then I went with the Sisters (and Dan and Angela) to visit Ryan in the hospital. He wasn't as drugged as he could have been but he was pretty funny all the same. He looked pretty good, and we brought him lollipops (I even found a super huge one for him), and then we split up. I went to the dinner and an institute class thing where I had a load of real food, the most real food I'd had since Amber fed me last Monday. Afterwards I went home to catch up on some Sarah Connor. I really, really, really wanted to RP online with my Black Dog girls, but apparently finals had wiped me out and I was in bed by one.

I was up decently early on a Saturday morning. What cleaning I did do went to hell in a handbasket. But I got dressed up and met up with Angela and Dan, who were also dressed up. (I spaced pictures, but we all looked good). Angela had scored a gift card to the Olive Garden, so we had soup, salad, and breadsticks. It was good conversation and very good food, and afterwards we went downtown to watch Wicked.

And oh, Wicked was amazing. I'd heard some of the songs and been apprised of the general plot, but watching a musical live is unbeatable. Even though if I'd known a girl like Galinda in real life I'd have stabbed her dead within a week of being her roommate, the actress who played her was absolutely amazing with all the energy she put into it. Elphaba totally stole the show, though, with some seriously powerful singing. I figured out some major plot points fairly early on, but I enjoyed the show all the same. I was a little leery of Fiyero at first, but when he and Elphaba finally had their duet...whoa. He had a rockin' great voice (and I could also totally hear how he would have made a great Roger in RENT). Overall, it was an amazing experience and a great way to cap off another year of law school. Apparently Legally Blonde the musical is coming to town, and we law students have decided that we definitely need to go see that.

I was invited to a party Saturday night, but I was feeling all kinds of brainless, so I just ended up staying home and watching me more Sarah Connor. I wanted Jessie to get what was coming to her and for John to find out the truth about Riley, but it broke my little fangirl heart when John cried. I also got all caught up on the Dollhouse and am a bit worried that its season ended after 12 episodes. Joss Whedon works in mysterious ways, and networks need to learn to trust his awesomeness. I was up pretty ridiculously late, but I went to church today.

Cute new boy at church who's only here for the summer. He's Will N.'s roommate and served his mission in Mandarin-speaking Toronto and is a pretty bright guy. Amber says I should go for it, and I think I just might because he's cute and nice and hey, it's only for the summer, and if things go badly, well, he's off to study abroad in China at the end of summer, so the awkwardness would be short-lived. We all know how brave I am, though.

I went with the sister missionaries tonight to teach Xiao Qian. I've never been on a team-up to teach a friend like that before, and it was a little strange, but I enjoyed it, and I hope Xiao Qian sticks with it. We'll see what happens. I felt bad for never realizing she might be more interested than she ever seemed at school.

I'm getting back on track with the letter writing, too, now that finals is done. We'll see how well that goes. But first, it is Mother's Day, and I am going to call my lovely mother.
