Day 735: Back in the Saddle
Mar. 17th, 2009 10:25 pmI am. I stayed up too ridiculously late Sunday night and so slept in an hour on Monday but still made it to school in good time. Did as best as I could in classes, turned in some important paperwork. The most exciting things about Monday were running errands and hanging out with Amber. After school on Monday I went down to the Ace Hardware store on Saddle Creek to see about getting my sword balanced. The man working the service desk took my request with aplomb (please help me balance my sword) and lasted about five minutes before he broke down and asked what for. Once I explained it was for dancing, he was pretty cool about it. It was entertaining, watching all the big macho hardware store employees so afraid of little tiny me with a purely decorative dancing sword. I went to FHE but skipped out on the big activity and followed Amber back to her place. We talked boys, life as a lawyer (I interviewed her for a paper) and then watched House. I love hanging out with Amber. She's awesome - she's all that's awesome in life: optimism, fierceness, hard-work, and being a kick-ass lawyer.
I stayed up crazy late again, and so slept in this morning, but I still got all my requisite homework done before classes anyway. I nearly fell asleep over my Secured Transactions book six times, and but I made it through anyway. After class I headed out to get my car serviced before it reached the 30k mile mark. I sat in the waiting room and did homework - wrote a closing argument, read the rest of the chapter for T&E, and even danced. Worked on that story for Min that is too many fandoms and full of bizarre and more full of Schadenfreude than humour. I got home in time to catch another episode of The Dollhouse, backup my laptop, and go belly dance. As much as I like my sword, it is pretty scary to have on my head, and a lot heavier than a dowel rod, too. And it still needs some more balancing.
All in all, though, it's been a pretty good start to an otherwise long week. Today felt like a very long day. Somehow I managed to get an entry for the HN steam-powered contest written last night. I also got a letter from
aether_entropy yesterday, which made me crazy happy, but with the way my schedule is this week (trials tomorrow night, trial practice the night after that, law school prom the night after that, D&D Saturday night) I won't be able to write back until Sunday, which is my usual letter writing day anyway. I also finally wrote that one Chinese engineer whom mother volunteered as a pen-pal for me. Dad told me she's been trying to auction me off to his engineers, which is not so cool.
I'm gonna marry Dr. Reid, doggone it.
Anyway, Merlin calls. Merlin and then bed.
Also, I went on a crazy trip down memory lane. Seriously. One of my favorite bands all through middle school and high school - besides the Offspring and various boybands - was The Moffatts. Seriously. They rock. They went from this to this to this to this. Let's not talk about what happened after.
