Day 734: And So It Was
Mar. 15th, 2009 04:29 pmAnd so it was an awesome spring break. This morning I woke up terrified of all the things I'll have to do in the coming weeks, of how hard I'll have to study, but as I was driving Chanita to the airport I realized that this was one of the best breaks I've had in a while, that it felt like a real break, and I'm ready (if not actually eager) to get back to school.
Still...I was getting ahead of myself. Thursday was a fun, fun day. Chani and I woke up leisurely, ate, and then went to the mall with Angela. Well, we went to see The Watchmen first. I was highly unimpressed, and actually the movie ruined a favorite song of mine (although the use of "The Sound of Silence" was pretty awesome), and I think that's the first time in a long time I've ever had the urge to just walk out of a movie. We hit the main mall on 72d and Dodge, but as it turned out there was no actual prom shopping to be done there, so we went to Westroads instead. And had a blast. We tried on loads of prom dresses - some of which looked like wedding dresses - and we posed for pictures and laughed and had a good time. By the time it was done our feet were crazy sore (Angela needed to take a detour to Victoria's Secret since she was the only one who really needed to buy a dress) and then we found the coolest shop ever. It is a shop that is perfect for me. Why? Because it sells pretty, shiny, sparkly jewelry - and weapons. Lots of them. Mostly swords, but also staves and knives and - yeah. Pretty much perfect for a girl like me. No boyfriend of mine could ever go wrong buying me something from that shop.
After shopping we got junk food, and then it was Rock Band time. That's right - we headed over to Brielyn, Cassie, and Lindsey's place and set up the rock band. Amber and Melissa came too, and we spent three hours going nuts and having a total blast, unlocking songs and playing and singing and - it was totally awesome. I loved it.
Chani and I went back to my place and watched some Criminal Minds (because season two came in the mail) and then slept. Friday was a lazy day and essentially consisted of us going to see Coraline (which totally rocked!) and then watching The Punisher, Mad Monkey Kung Fu, and a whole lot more Criminal Minds. (We're both officially addicts. And Chani should date Hotch. Seriously. It'd be like a way more hardcore Dharma and Greg.)
Saturday was also lots and lots of special fun. We went to the zoo, which was all kinds of good times, just us girls, me, Chani, and Angela. I got a little lost on the way and called Ryan for help, and we had a good time. We looked at desert animals, at jungle animals (it reminded me of hiking in Sarawak and Subic Bay and all that jazz), at the aquarium, at the pretty pretty butterflies (I love butterflies), at the giant cats, some bears, and the elephants. And then we hit the gift shop. We saw Angela's pretty dress for the barrister's ball, and then Angela went home and Chanita and I stayed up all night crafting, watching Criminal Minds, and running the RP on Gaia.
It was awesome.
And today, I went to church, came home, and then took Chanita to the airport and said goodbye.
Spring break is almost done.
It was a good thing.
Also, the weather has been nice the last couple of days, because it was a little crazy rainy earlier in the week. Nice weather is good.
The 't' key on my keyboard is slowly starting to die.
