Day 729: Court of Chicanery
Feb. 28th, 2009 11:19 pmSo Criminal Minds on Wednesday was awesome. I love pretty much every character on that show. Reid is my favorite, hands down, but I do hold a special place in my heart for Hotch.
Thursday was pretty okay. I did homework and went to classes. There's a new game going down in PR. We never did play Battleship in Civ Pro, which would have livened things up. The latest classroom game is 'random references,' to wit, someone emails around a list of random words, phrases, and allusions, each player claims one and must volunteer an answer in class that somehow incorporates the random reference. It's entertaining for the rest of us to listen, and the poor professor has no clue.
Trial practice was at the courthouse again. The professor talked to us about important things, like how to deal with the horrible things one inevitably sees as a prosecutor. He also offered to let us watch an autopsy (not of a homicide victim) so we can get a sense for how well we deal with things. And maybe to get a sense of our own mortality. I think I might actually take him up on it.
Friday was not so hot. Sometime on Thursday night I accidentally deleted my schoolwork file. Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize it until Friday morning when I went to do my Secured Transactions homework. And I spazzed. So I did a whole lot of nutty stuff to attempt to undelete, but to no avail. And my computer melted down in the middle of T&E. Literally melted down - shut off and would not turn on. I skipped Secured in an attempt to rescue my files. I got back my Secured notes and lost almost everything BA except what I'd saved on a fortnight-old backup. I asked for someone to send me their old BA notes. Luckily for me, I had the notes through the huge chapter one and two review, so I wasn't completely high and dry. I spent the rest of Friday hiding from my laptop, terrified that if I touched it it would meltdown or something. I ended up having popcorn and chocolate for supper, watching 27 Dress (yes, again), some season one Criminal Minds (I know I have a problem) and some of Meet Joe Black (come on, even guys like that movie) and staying up till an ungodly hour.
Today was a pretty good day - I got all my reading for Monday done, plus I wrote the crosses and directs for my Mangrum trials. I think they suck, and they're way too short, and I still have to do the direct and cross (not to mention a whole slew of openings and closings), but they're done. I'm behind on writing again, but whatever. I went to the Black and White Bunko party tonight, donated my dice to the cause. Bunko is pretty fun, and I had good times. I wore the goth loli outfit Chani made for me, which was a pretty big hit. I talked to Kile the Cthulhu kid, and he may or may not have a crush on me, which would be awkward. We'll see what happens. If I can tell someone likes me, it must be pretty obvious, right? I'll see about whether or not I'm just being paranoid or what. Tomorrow at church.
Justin sent me awesome presents, a belated birthday present and a belated Christmas present. The Christmas present was hardcore - a chainmaille d6. I kid you not. And he sent me a shuriken, because I like sharp point things.
I ought to sleep, because I am coming down with the plague. Sometimes I wake up with a sore throat, and after I brush my teeth it goes away. Yesterday it did not go away, and today I had to dope up on Dayquil.
I don't want to be sick for spring break. Just sayin'.
Sorry if this is disjointed - I didn't write it all in one go like I usually do; I was distracted a lot.
If I had some of this, I'd totally feel better.
