Monday was an A-okay day. It was a little cold, but nowhere near as cold as it could have been. On the way to school I noticed that one set of streetlights was out of power just near the hospital, and just as I got settled into my spot on the sofa in the study corner I received a phone alert from the school that there had been a power outage at the school and 'campus opening was delayed till ten thirty'. Since this is Creighton and they rarely play by the rules, a lot of the classes at the law school that started before ten thirty were held anyway. Luckily for me, however, T&E was cancelled, so I got an hour and fifteen minutes to essentially goof off. I worked on a story. FHE on Monday was a Name that Tune rematch between the wards, and we in Winter Quarters got our back on the Cold Springs people. It was fun to see some of the shyer girls in our ward get up there and strut their stuff. Afterwards me, Brielyn, Lindsey, Cassie, and Melissa stuck around together to get our mutual visiting teaching on (as Lindsey and Cassie are my visiting teachers and Melissa and I are Brielyn, Lindsey, and Cassie's visiting teachers). Brielyn gave me a gift card to Best Buy, so I will totally have money for Rock Band. Also, Brielyn wrote me a birthday poem, which was often. She's talented.

Tuesday was Mardi Gras but we did little to celebrate it. The Sidebar had a baked potato bar for lunch, which was awesome, and we all kinds of missed Kim's King Cake in institute but went without. It was all right. Afterwards I went home in an attempt to get some homework done, but someone - I suspect whoever lives right above me - was engaged in a Construction project, and so I had no chance whatsoever of really concentrating on anything. I mostly lolled around, watching old episodes of CM (yes, I have a problem, I realize this), tatting, and I had dinner. After I'd eaten and was getting ready to head to Belly Dancing Ryan called and said he was rounding people up to go get free pancakes at IHOP. I had to respectfully decline because I was going dancing. And it was AWESOME. There were four beginners, so we stuck strictly to technique, which is always a super awesome workout, and then Gabrielle, Karen, and I stuck around after to work on the sword dance. We altered some of the counts and motions and I think we're getting it, slowly but surely. Still, it was a pretty good day. Also, I asked Jake to be my not-date to the barrister's ball (it's a not-date because he has a girlfriend) and he said yes, so there you go, I have a dedicated dance partner for the evening. Go me!

Today was just classes - I got to school in good time and studied hard. I saw some squirrels flirting while I was on the way to T&E. I noticed one squirrel going oh-so-slowly down the trunk of a tree, and he was waving his tail this way and that, all rhythmic and flashy, and I thought it was a little spastic and cute, and when I got closer I realized there was a squirrel on the ground watching the show and thought, oh, wahey! Spring! Mating season! Duh. It sorta brightened my day, as today was pretty nice and warm. After classes I went to the post office (I mailed off my taxes and the first chapter of Ericka's novel) and then I decided to study in the park while it was still warm. Once it got cold, I all kinds of retreated to my apartment, and so here I am, drinking tea to stay warm and chilling, waiting for Criminal Minds to come on (it's got a few hours yet, so I'm doing fun things like writing letters). My friend Aden wrote me yesterday, and as I have recently acquired me some awesome stationery, I totally wrote her back, and then Rowsdower sent me a birthday present - some comics, like he always does, and he also made me a cool leather bracelet with the yin-yang, tri-force, and justice scales burned into it. It's awesome. Halley (Sister Holmes) sent me a postcard from temple square as well, so it's looking like another awesome mail week. I got a note in my box that there's a package for me to pick up at the post office, and if I read the postman's scratchy handwriting right, the box is from Justin, so I'll go pick it up tomorrow. I am pretty excited, I'll admit.

This week seems to be moving slowly, though, which is freaking me out just a bit. But that's okay. I'm doing my best to be a useful person.
