Wow. Yeah. So the first week of school went by all right. This is what it means to be a senior, to incur a sleep deficit within the first week due to heavy reading assignments. Okay, Calland and her high school regime isn't helping much with my reading writing load, but still, all I can do is be amazed at the freshman who sigh and smile and say they have little to no homework.
Friday came, so me, BenTen and Erin headed for home in St. George. First we said good-bye to Del and Ghost by eating outside the cafeteria so we could see the cat. Ghost doesn't like me, but I'm not surprised because most animals don't like me. I managed to pack in a decent time and so we three girls were home free, and made it in relatively good time. Mom was there waiting for us, along with Audi the chihuahua. We set down our laundry, got settled into our rooms, and then I took Erin on a tour of the house. We decided to get pizza for dinner, so we ate pizza and watched TV like boring people do on Friday nights until Dad got home from the temple. We girls, having brought swim suits, also decided to have a rest in the jacuzzi, BenTen because she was tired from work and me because those anthologies are already back-breaking. They should let the chiropractor students practice on us. Or the massage therapy students. A great win-win situation there. The three of us ended up staying up in my room talking till all hours, laughing and giggling and making insidious plans. Aragorn. A word that, while it still inspires an image of a weathered ranger, also makes us laugh. Pay dirt. That's all I'm going to say. As it turns out, Erin is a lot less conservative than we originally thought. I like her more and more even though Rowsdower doesn't entirely. There's no rule saying that all of my friends have to like each other. All in all it was a good way to start the weekend, relaxing and all. Nevermind the fiasco with trying to get my car inspected so it could be registered. Or Mary Ellen popping out of the woodwork to make hell of our plans.
On Saturday we rose at leisurely paces. Erin was the first awake, followed by me, so I crept out of bed and joined her to do homework, although when my father came to check on her he thought she was alone and was slightly chagrined when I sat up and was awake doing homework as well. In the end I dropped Audi on BenTen's head to rouse her from sleep, so we ate - fresh cinnamon rolls courtesy of mom - and then went shopping. Mostly window shopping. I think BenTen bought the most, but I ended up buying this cute Edwardian jacket at Hot Topic. It's surprisingly warm and ought to do well with some of the clothes I have. We ate out for Mexican, too. I miss Horchata. I should have more of the stash mom brought home for me. Erin started feeling a little crummy, so we finished our shopping and headed home. We repaired to the back porch on lounge chairs while Erin slept. BenTen and I traded MP3 players while we sunned ourselves and tried to get some of our infernal reading done. After supper, a grand affair of mom's barbecued hamburgers we girls headed down to Hollywood Video to rent some movies. We rented Bullets Over Broadway and Dangerous Beauty, two very different but excellent films. Afterwards we stayed up talking and giggling like a bunch of mad people. I think this is what slumber parties were meant to be like in high school, but none of the girls I knew were mature enough to have this sort of fun (and by mature I mean experienced and educated, so we could talk history and literature).
Sunday morning we rose about an hour before church started. We girls only stuck aroundn for sacrament meeting, which happened to also be fast and testimony meeting, before heading home alone to read and nap. To basically have a lazy Sunday. The Leavitts had a pair of Japanese boys with them, so I finally mustered up some courage to introduce we girls to them. I know enough Japanese to at least pull that off. Nevermind the fact that my most fluent phrase is "omae o korosu," I'll kill you. It went all good, and then we girls set up for a huge Sunday dinner. It was ribs and baked potatoes with all the fixings, salad and pie and all that. We set up in the formal dining room because the den table can't really fit more than five people comfortably, so mom took the chance to break out the fancy linen and silverware and make it a formal dinner. I love formal dinners. For all that I'm not very girly there are some random points of etiquette that I really enjoy. I felt sort of bad about eating and running, but we girls decided to go up Sunday after dinner instead of getting up early on Monday, which rather foiled Mary Ellen's plans altogether, so we ate and ran. We planned to drop of the videos on the way, but it wasn't until I'd reached the exit that Erin realized we hadn't stopped at the video place, which would have been an ultimately bad thing, so I turned around and sped back to the video place before heading up to Cedar. We arrived all right, so I unloaded in my room so I could watch my X Japan concert. It CAME! In the mail, when I was up here, it did arrive. You have no idea just how glad I was that it did come. So plunked down in my blue chair - because I'm keeping it in my room, dammit, and just watched. I watched a few songs down at the house, because they did this funky live version of SCARS, one of their harder ones, and then Crucify My Love, which was really emotional. I was right about that Live Version of Forever Love. It was from the last concert, hence it being so charged with emotion. The concert was visually stunning. Maybe I'm just biased, but I don't like the new bassist as much even though he is very pretty in his own way. I do like hide's pink hair, though. I like Toshi with short black hair, too. I called Mary Ellen, and she arrived in time for the second disc, so we watched it and talked, but in the end I was tired and sent her off and we agreed to meet the next day and go out to lunch.
On Monday I slept in until about eleven, at which point the arrival of Mary Ellen woke me. BenTen and I rose and dressed, and we decided to go to Taco Bell - because I was craving one of their cheesy gordita crunch things - and just as we were headed out the door Josh found us, so we ended up pouring into his car and going to eat together. After lunch we went to visit Aya and Panda, had fun and just talked. It was good seeing Mary Ellen again. She now has a promise ring from her man, and says that the wedding was moved back to summer of 06, so we'll see how that goes. She had to leave at around one, so we checked out Alesha's apartment before heading back to our own place. BenTen and I decided to hang out with Josh in his room and do homework, which we did, after going to Wal Mart and purchasing Nerf Guns for BenTen in her aspiration to join the assassination game. We ended up hanging out in his room, me trying to write a paper and BenTen trying to read, listening to JPOP and making fun of his invisible roommate. We went to supper after, which was lousy on a holiday, and then me, Ericka, Josh and Sierra went down to the Grind so BenTen could do her fiction assignment. She really is an amazing writer, with some keen insight that she couples with razor sharp wit to make people laugh. The rest of us had Italian sodas, and Sierra and I played cards, and then we walked home. Sierra, Josh and I ended up hiding in Josh's room to watch some anime, occasionally interrupted by Barry. We watched some Gate Keepers, a perkier version of Evangelion minus the biomecha, then some Peacemaker, then some VanDread, which is seriously awesome. Nevermind that I love David Lucas's voice. After the anime we hunted down Nick to engage him in our nefarious plans, and ended up making two separate Maverick runs for sustenance supplies before hiding in my room and doing more talking than planning.
This morning I was awakened, rather subliminally, but Del's alarm clock going off. It continued its noise for a couple of hours before shutting off on its own. Institute went just fine. As for CJ...well...I was a little homicidal there at the end. Sexist conservatives. Figures my minor is as male-dominated as my major is female-dominated. GRRR.
Now I'm hiding in my room avoiding a certain awful, stupid paper and ranting into my livejournal because Del isn't home, and friends are always better than livejournals.
