Day 189: Back to school...
Aug. 26th, 2005 04:20 pmI moved in yesterday. My parents were really awesome about driving up with me and Del was awesome about helping me move in, and then mom and dad took me to lunch before saying good-bye. Believe it or not I really have downsized this year. So have BenTen and Erin, who moved in today. Rowsdower and Rodney stopped by while I was playing Kingdom Hearts (to kill time till Del came home from work) and they observed that I do have much less in the way of random useless possessions. Random useless possessions. That's me! Del came home from work and we sat together while I ate, and then I discovered some DDR going on in the lobby, so I went to play!
Jill and Cyndle and some of the other members of the old crowd from the last couple of years were there, so we all played and had fun. Unfortunately I hadn't played since the beginning of summer, so going through a couple of hours on heavy after not playing for so long was probably a bad idea, but I had fun and met some new people. Afterwards I took a shower - because I was all gross and sweaty and my muscles wanted the comfort of hot water - and then went to visit Del. We watched Buffy and painted our nails and stayed up talking like girls do.
Today has been much more productive. Del and I watched more Buffy in the effort toward breakfast, and then I returned to my room. I now have copies of mine and Del's schedules on the back of my door so I know where people are at all times, and I put up my posters. It looks like the sticky tack will work this time around. I also filled my binders with fresh, new, pretty paper, so that's all good to go as well. I hung out with Rowsdower getting some chores done on campus, and I had lunch of a sort with him. We ran into Rodney and Kelly on the way, and talked for a bit. I hung out with Erin and BenTen (helped both of them move in as well) and then took my bike to the bank to get money for the movie tonight. Hopefully everyone can go. It would be nice. I invited a random new guy named Joshua who said he's interested in gaming (interested but still a total n00b) but he says he's going to be playing online once he has his internet. This post is evidence that I now have the joy of the internet in my room. Rowsdower said he might come. Hopefully BenTen won't have to work tonight, and Del will get off work on time to go. Although tomorrow is Saturday so some of us can afford to stay up late tonight if we decide to go to the 9 o'clock movie instead of the 7 o'clock one. It's been a while since I've been on a bike and I was nervous, but it turned out all right in the end, and that's what counts.
I checked on that job in the writing center, but they're all filled up. The one time slot that was empty was during a class I have to take, so I signed up to be a paper grader for a couple of members of the faculty instead. I'd like to grade for Tvordi and Cook, but Harris is pretty cool. It would have to be for a professor from whom I'm not taking any classes, I'm sure. Professor Cook seems to like me, in some weird sort of way, so I hope it all works out. Mrs. Simon in the writing center says that if I come by in early November I ought to be able to score a place for Spring Semester easily.
Back in the dorms and all my friends are here - it should be good!

Date: 2005-08-27 04:24 am (UTC)Sorry about the writing center! How does it look for being a grader? Is that a position that you would be interested in? Let me know if you are offered the job.
Bob called and asked that you call him. Do you want me to call and say you are in Cedar or is this something you want to handle?
Look forward to seeing you on Labor Day weekend, but PLEASE understand that you don't have to come down. If you have activities and friends up there then by all means stay and have fun. Not much for you to do down here except be with me and dad (and we are old people).
Good luck with your first day of school.
I sure miss you and love you alot, but you are in a place you need to be at this time. Love and kisses mom
miss you
Date: 2005-08-27 04:32 am (UTC)Glad you are all moved in and things seem to be fine. Bet you are happy to be back with youf "girls" and doing fun things. Were you able to get a t.v. cable?
Sorry to hear about the writing center. Does it look pretty positive for a position in the grading center? Is this something you are interested in? Go for it. Let me know if it comes to be.

Shannon, Sid and I went to see "Brothers Grimm". I didn't think much of it, but Sid and Shannon enjoyed it and they think it is one that will really appeal to your sense of being that kind of "geek". Go see it and let me know what you think of it.
I really miss you and would enjoy seeing you on Labor Day, but please understand that if you have friends and activities up there then by all means stay and have fun. Just let me know your plans. Dad and I are old and I don't know if you have much to do down here.
love and kisses mom
Sounds like good times
