Day 1264: Bringing out the Big Guns

Not really. I don't have big guns. But I have been sticking with my workout routine!
For reals - worked out every day last week except Sunday - because I need to take at least one day off. Last week was mostly leg week (this week is mostly arm week, and I hurt in places I've never hurt before).
It was generally a chill week, and I had time to do a good chunk of writing, which was nice. Work still had its crazy moments, some crazy cases. I got to hang out at my old regular court for once, which was nice, cover drug court and all my own hearings. It was the lonely prompts challenge last week, and I might have gone a little insane trying to write all of the things, but it was good fun. I wrote a lot of shorter stories, which is good, because I do often need to practice my brevity. I also wrote a couple of longer stories that I'm pretty proud of, and got some forward movement on a couple of my 'verses, so that made me happy.
Dance class is going well! We finally sorted out the number of dancers for advanced class, so we actually started to work out our transitions and our line-up, and Angela and I need to choreograph our portions, but it's going good! The beginner class dance is coming along so, so well, and it'll be really pretty. I need to start working out costumes and thinking about potential henna tattoos.
The weekend was good - general conference weekend. One time I fell asleep on the couch during the talks, but otherwise I stayed awake and I listened. Finished my knitted arm warmers and then found a quick, easy, very pretty pattern for dragonscale wristlets, complete with little loops for the thumbs so they don't fall down. I managed to finish one in about three hours uninterrupted, but that was going slow and trying to decipher a UK crochet pattern and learning a new stitch. I haven't managed to have much uninterrupted crochet time for the second one, but it is going faster.
I had a trial last week. It got out early, so that was nice, but trial is always rough.
Cody is going to England for a week, so Angela and I are going to head south to visit my mum (and dad, if he's there) for the holiday weekend so I don't have to spend the holiday weekend alone.
I have at least one story due Monday, but I started writing three for the challenge. I finished one, but I still need to finish the other two. One of them is a companion fic to a friend's, the other is just one I got a bug up my nose over. Go figure. I have a bunch of Christmas stories I need to write, and also Cody wants me to crochet him a crazy hat for Christmas.
We went out to dinner Friday night with Cody's brothers and their friends (and a couple of girlfriends) as a belated birthday party for Cody. We went to a nice Thai restaurant, which was kinda spendy, but the food was so good. Afterwards we went to see the new Magnificent Seven movie, which was good times. Since I haven't seen the original or Seven Samurai, I didn't quite have as much invested in it as Cody did. We are planning a Seven Samurai screening, now.
Last night I finally buckled down and wrote all the letters I've been meaning to write for weeks. Got them written and packaged up all pretty and sent out. Now all I have to do is wait for replies.
One of the coolest things that happened last week was an old friend found me on Facebook. We were pen pals when I was in high school and through a good bunch of college. I was friends with his younger brother in high school, and he was in prison, and his brother was too lazy to write him, so I wrote him (we'd talked on the phone one time when he called his brother), and once he got out we lost contact. Now he's married with a bunch of kids and is a loving stay-at-home dad, and I am super glad to see that he's managed to stay outside and build a new life.
My poor mother has had eye surgery over the last couple of weeks, but she seems to be recovering well. I am looking forward to relaxing while I am down visiting her.
And writing a whole lot. Here goes!
