Day 1257: And we all march on

Still trucking, all. Still alive.
Last week was...was. I mean, I thought it was pretty okay, but by the end of it I was pretty wrecked, and I ended up having one of the girls reschedule one of my appointments because I just couldn't face the thought of going out on the road again and dealing with the crazy.
I managed to mosey my way through my appointments. Survived cub scouts - just one boy, doing preliminaries on him making his own knife - and dance class and also dance practice. Dance practice with the girls was fun - Cody, Angela, and I went out for food beforehand.
And hey, I survived trial! I was proactive at trial, and we won! And by 'we', I mean the kids coming in and crying to the judge about how their mother traumatized them was a nail in mom's coffin, and no one really wins after trials like that. Apparently I missed the drama at drug court, where there was weeping and tears and death threats and white supremacists (good thing I sent the guardian with the Malfoy-blonde hair to cover for me, huh?).
I learned how to increase and decrease stitches in knitting, so I am attempting to make fingerless mittens to wear at court. The first one was too big, the second one was about right but the thumb space was too small, so I am onto attempt three! I am glad my crocheting engineering skills more or less translate over to knitting engineering skills.
Angela and I have had awesome times at our concerts! Last two concerts of the summer outdoor season for us, and we had a great time. Friday night there was a traffic jam up the canyon and it rained on us while we were in the canyon, so we were nervous about getting rained on up there. We were so hungry we ate half of our picnic in the car, but then we got up to the venue and got decent seats - we weren't the only ones made late by the traffic jam - and it was amazing. The guest violinist was all of 23 and was amazing, and then, of course, the 1812 Overture with live cannons was super, super cool. Cody went out with his brothers and a bunch of guy friends for Kip's birthday, so that was all right.
Last night was the music of John Williams, which might have involved sniffles during the theme from Schindler's List and far too much joy during the Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars themes. We had tasty food. We did get rained on a bit, so poor Angela was cold, but we huddled up with blankets and umbrellas and hot cocoa (for Angela) and we had a grand old time.
I was pretty sure I was rocking this whole case changeover - three trials in three weeks, like a boss! - only three times this week the office manager cornered me and told me to slow down.
Also I have developed an eye twitch? I thought it was because my contact lenses were being weird, but apparently it's stress. So, yay for going camping this weekend! Because I may or may not also be a bit of a basket case.
Go team!

Date: 2016-08-09 12:52 am (UTC)Glad you had a win on that trial, and it definitely counts as a win when that kind of situation stops. It sounds like you are absolutely handling everything like a boss, your office manager is probably just in awe at watching you zip around everywhere in ultra-high gear! :)
