Day 1127: Bachelorette Life
Jul. 7th, 2014 11:14 pmAs it turns out, being a bachelorette for a week didn't lead to me recreating my wild college days. Then again, my days weren't super wild in law school, so I'm not surprised Angela and I mostly resorted to cooking dinner, walking the dogs, chatting, and then going to bed. One night we stayed up super late at the piano, me playing and her singing, and it was so, so much fun. She wasn't warmed up and my playing was pretty pathetic and rusty, but we had super good times.
Work was kinda chill on the third, and then Breezy came over. We loaded up the car - Breezy was in the back with the dogs, but she loves dogs - we got snacks, we fueled up, and we sang our way south. We stopped in Cedarville for food and so we got to my parents' house late, but it was good times. My parents let the dogs stay in my dad's work shed, which had AC. I had a room of my own, and Breezy and Angela shared.
On Friday we watched Jersey Boys in cinema, which wasn't as fun as the live musical but was a good film. That night we drove up the hill to the old airport to watch the fireworks. I expected them to be on the opposite ridge, but they were right above us, so we could lay in the truck bed (we borrowed my parents' truck) and gaze up at the sky. I've never seen such large and close fireworks. They were beautiful. While we waited for the fireworks to start, we plotted a romcom together. While we waited for traffic to clear so we could descend the hill, we read some Fault in Our Stars by flashlight.
On Saturday we hiked Zion - the emerald pools (lower two, got a bit lost on the way to the third) and the western rim. We also had a picnic with my parents, and then in the evening we went to see the Little Mermaid at the outdoor theatre at Tuacahn. It was super cool to watch - Eric actually sang, and there was backstory so the plot made more sense. Also Angela and I had awesome seats (Breezy bought her ticket separate) and we saw some of the action up close. Also, I want a pair of wheelie sneakers.
Cody got back Saturday night and there was kerfuffle about getting him home, but he made it home safely. On Sunday we girls drove north through a storm. We stopped in Parowan to have a late lunch/early dinner with my friend from college Marty. At the diner the power went out three times. It was good to see Marty, though. He remains one of my funniest friends. I made it home safe, and Cody had cleaned the house, done the laundry, and had dinner ready. It was wonderful.
Overall, I had a good weekend, spending time with my parents and friends, eating good food, and relaxing.
