So, at the end of my last journal post, I was hopeful, like "here's to getting better!"

I didn't get better. I spent most of last week huddled at home on the couch, working on my laptop (at least I had enough brainpower to work). I didn't get much sunlight, but I got work done. Also, I wrote. Every day. Was any of it useful fiction, i.e. work on my novel? Nope. It was fanfic. I admit it. But I wrote, and I even finished a piece, and I have completely plotted out two more pieces. Maybe I'm finally getting the hang of this whole outlining thing. Woohoo! I cannot remember the last time it went that well for me, the plotting thing.

On the other hand, my ability to plot original novels? Has kinda died. I've been hanging out tumblr more and more (I blame my girl BenTen), and I have vaguely contemplated throwing some of my writing on there, but I already have so many places where my writing is scattered that I really don't need any more. It's pretty terrible, honestly. I figured I'll just keep writing. Or...if I keep scattering my writing, I at least need a centralized database of links or what have you so I can always track it down again. Keeping track of my own writing is kind of important.

I had an awesome time dancing this week, in class - we finished the choreography on the dance we've been learning, which is Bollywood fusion and super cute - and also my instructor had a hafla to celebrate the opening of her new private studio, where I plan on taking lessons. I had a great time - danced, made new friends, made better friends with some of the ladies I already dance with, and I met some new, incredible dancers. I'm kinda bummed that we're going to be moving so soon, because I'd really love to learn to dance from these ladies. I do think that if there is a decent dance community up here in a relatively small town, I should be able to find what I want in a bigger city. Cody and I looked at houses together tonight. We've got some picked out. We just need to get started on the whole looking and buying process, which continues to terrify me.

My girl BenTen (who I sometimes call my sister in casual conversation without thinking about it) has started up on an awesome new fanfic on tumblr (we talked about it while I was down there), so I've been mainlining Sherlock and Spooks and Inception to keep up with it. Usually I am annoyed if there are more than two fandoms in a crossover, but what she's doing is genius, and I literally squee every time she pops up with a new post.

I got to play D&D with the gang from Omaha this weekend, which was awesome. Talking to friends on Skype, like Tomie and Benten, somehow just makes my day. After hours of working and glaring at my computer, of fighting through a headache and scowling at the cold seeping in the windows, hearing their voices makes everything better. Also, Cody and I hung out at the forge this weekend, me stitching knife sheaths for him while he finished up the work on some of his blades.

This week was long, but I got to talk to my mom and my friends and cuddle with Cody (who is very patient about letting me pet his hair while we watch TV), and I think I'm finally getting over my cold, so I am happy.

Here's to actually getting better this week, to dancing and having fun and maybe getting some real progress on my novel done. Woohoo!
