I totally failed to post on Sunday, mostly because Cody and I stayed up to an ungodly hour on Saturday night, reading. I've been reading again like crazy. I read SRB's collab with Justine Larbelestier (?) "Team Human", which was cute but not my favorite, and I went back and read a crap ton of old GW fic. It was an epic post-series novel, and I went nuts devouring it. Cody read a new Dresden book (he's become quite enamored of my iPad) and we hung out. It was good times, curling up and reading with my husband.

On Sunday we had a nice family dinner with Cody's parents and brother. We hung out, watched a little too much TV, and had good times. Saturday we went out for gyros and also went to the temple, which was good times.

Most of last week I spent recovering from my stupid kidney infection, which was kinda lame. And this week I've had a series of really lame migraines. I think it's because my eyes have worsened beyond my contact prescription and staring at a computer all day has given me eye strain. So I scheduled an appointment with an optometrist who comes highly recommended by several of my trusted coworkers.

...I watched some Grey's Anatomy. Can't stand it. Moving right along. Started watching Ouran High School Host Club again. I never finished it the first time, but I am close to finishing it now. ...My favorites are Kyoya and Mori-senpai. (The twins just creep me out. And I want to punch Tamaki in the face. Honey isn't as cute as Momiji from Fruits Basket, yet another reverse harem anime; after a while, Honey actually gets annoying.) I can't believe I'm watching it again. Grrr.

The best part of this week was going bellydancing again. I haven't gone in forever, and it was lots of fun. I got to hang out with some other girls, and dancing is always super peaceful and serene. I've lost a lot of my coordination, but it was still fun. Also, my dad is back in town. It was really good to see him. And I got to have a long, happy chat with my girl Angela. Tonight I hung out with my fellow Relief Society sisters and we mass-produced 144 72-hour kits. Sometimes Mormon efficiency scares even me. I stuck around afterward and tinkered around on the piano in the primary room for a bit.

I've gotten back to cooking proper meals again. It feels like I haven't really done that in forever, and it felt good to go back to being a decent housewife again.

Today I also went to WalMart to buy part of my niece's birthday present. I about had a panic attack down the toy aisle. I hate going shopping for anything but books when I have no idea what it is I'm going to buy.

GW fic! Like I mentioned in my reply to your comment, we should totally write something together that takes place a decade-ish after the war (which would put the pilots in their mid-twenties -- so, still painfully young, but no longer child soldiers, and with some serious veterans' cred under their belts). I don't even know what the plot would be, but I don't care; we'd have a blast.

Ahhhh, Ouran. I watched the live action series during Fulbright orientation, and I think live action!Honey was my favorite, which is weird, because anime!Honey was my least favorite on account of he kind of creeped me out. But the live action actor was legit adorable.

Speaking of Sarah Rees-Brennan, did you read either of the short stories she released in the Unspoken 'verse? They're called "The Spring Before I Met You" and "The Summer Before I Met You," respectively. They're quite fun, especially the latter. I think Angela Montgomery is my spirit animal.

There was a live action version of Ouran? Ooooh. Awesome. Bet I can find it on YouTube. I loved both of the short stories. I liked Jared a lot more in the short story than I did in the entire novel, which was weird.

I wish I could be as awesomely lazy as Rusty Montgomery. And the inner me cheered for an Asian leading lady instead of the Asian sidekick.

As for a future GW fic, I think we could totally do it. I've seen those fics fall into one of three categories, typically: pilots must save the world again, pilots get found out, or curtain fics for all of them bound up in one. Bet we could do something different. :)

Ahhh, I haven't read the novel yet! I must get around to that ASAP. Maybe when I visit the States over my winter vacation, I can finally pick up a copy, umph. So far, all I've read are the short stories. And yes to the Asian lead -- I hear SRB wrote an Asian lead in Team Human too, which pleases me immensely. ^^

Ooooh I bet we could. With fanfic, I'm mostly used to doing one-shots/character studies/slice-of-life type stuff (which is the opposite of the novels that grow in my head when I'm writing my original work), but perhaps we could build off that! I wouldn't mind having your story of Quatre's bad day at work / bar fight as a starting point, for instance. ;)

The Asian lead in Team Human was awesome! I think you'll like her :)

We could build a story around a series of vignettes and stuff. Bet we could. And it would be cool to start with Quatre. I like the idea of teacher!Duo, enthusiastic and so smart but a bit troublesome with things like authority, discipline and decorum. I can see writer!Wufei too, although if we count Endless Waltz as canon then Preventer!Wufei is a great option. I have nothing against circus performer Trowa. I remain unsure about Heero.

...Maybe Heero will be our centralized theme? What happened to Heero and how do we find him?
