Life has been pretty darn good this week.

Know why it was good? Monday was mine and Cody's seven-month anniversary. I know - counting each month is a sure sign that we are basically newlyweds, but still. We had fake bubbly and a super tasty meal, and good times together.

Tuesday I went to Cody's kenpo class, and I got to train with his friends. Jake's wife made us super good cookies (although it turns out five chocolate chip cookies in the space of twenty-four hours will, in fact, give me headaches), and then we had tacos with Brent. Brent is a funny, bright, witty guy, and he was super nice to me when I was first dating Cody, and it's good to see him out and about again.

Wednesday was an uber good night - we got to see Bill Cosby live! The man was hilarious, insightful, inspiring, and enjoyable without being rude, crude, or obscene. Since he was performing at BYUI, it was guaranteed to be a clean show, but some of my experiences with stand-up comedy have been less than stellar. Cody and I had a great time - laughter really is the best medicine.

On Thursday night I drove down to Centerville to stay with my girl Del. Haven't seen her since the wedding, and it was kind of uncanny, seeing her beautiful suburban Mormon housewife house and her pretty little daughter and her husband working in the garden and knowing she's been married for four years. We stayed up late on the couch talking about life, old friends and new, the things we loved and still love, and I realized that Del is still the girl I'd stay up all night with reading poetry and listening to the soundtrack from RENT. She's just married now, too. That sort of thing always surprises me. Also, it's fun being part of the crowd of Mormon housewives who can name all the character classes in D&D, have played at least one round of Mind's Eye Theatre, and are well acquainted with Joss-verse in all its glory. I'm pretty sure Del doesn't see herself as a typical housewife any more than I do, but I'm starting to realize that one isn't a bad housewife because one does not conform to the stereotypes - one is a housewife if she is a wife and helps keep a house, whether she works or not, has kids or not, or loves Twilight (or not).

Friday I went to my CLE seminar about literature and the law and was soundly scolded for reading books less than a hundred years old (although my English lit major self ran a faintly smug internal monologue about how a book's status as canon classic does not mean it has all the earmarks of great literature or is even really well-written, but it does have its virtues). I learned about how Les Mis is a metaphor for the juvenile justice system and how some movies about old cases are startlingly historically accurate. I drove home that day and hung out with Cody, and we've been relaxing all weekend.

I taught the kiddies again today, and I think it went all right. No word about teaching next week, so either I did terribly or I'm off the hook. (I'm hoping for option B, really.) I am glad things are going well, and I am looking forward to a new week. Getting all rested up has been nice.

Also, to my chagrin, I have finished the first season of Gilmore Girls. Wee!Sam Winchester (named Dean and a mechanic) is very sweet.
