This week I think it has been colder, but I'm not entirely sure. I maintain that the window above the couch where I sit leaks air, so the longer I sit there the colder I get. Still, life has been going all right, more for me than for Cody. He's been crazy behind on his school work and keeps dashing like mad to catch up, but his mass difficulty with getting out of bed in the morning isn't helping. He seems convinced if he goes to bed around eleven and gets up at four he will get more done than if he tries to stay up super late and then sleeps in a bit the next day. I'm better at getting up early, so when the alarm goes off at four I'm wide awake and ready to start the day, but he is a bit reluctant to get out of bed. I wonder if his roommates were fiercer about getting him out of bed? I sometimes worry that in my desire to be nice to him I'm enabling his bad habits.

I wrote some this week, though less than I'd like. My laptop is back in the shop again because it was acting funny, and so the things I like to do, like post comics and work on some of my longer or Internet-based stories are on hold until I get the thing back. I am half tempted to put all my necessary files in cloud storage, put my entire music library on my iPad, put the rest of my files on an external hard drive, and do away with my laptop altogether. I could get a little Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad to enable story writing and other things.

Ninja training is going better. Cody's instructor and the other black belts think it would be super awesome if Cody became an MMA fighter. I'm not really liking that idea much. Even though I like to watch Cody fight, I'm not so big a fan of having to patch him up after really rough fights. Also, our health insurance is not that good. Cody also mentioned his dad has talked about leaving Cody the glass shop to manage when Cody is older. I kind of feel like a bad person, but the idea of spending the rest of my mortal existence living in small-town Idaho fills me with a quiet sense of horror. I don't think I could do it. But Cody needs to figure out what's going on with grad school, and soon. Naturally, all of the application deadlines for school this fall were due in December. We will work out something, I'm sure.

I made it to season 3 of Avatar this week, and I'm really enjoying it. I've also finished my tatted spiderweb design and should begin making proper ones soon. I am getting the hang of basic bobbin lace and am making bookmarks for the time being until I can try something more advanced. The book I got from the library is awesome, so I ordered a copy of my own off of Amazon. Cody and I watched a movie and went out for dinner on Friday night, and afterward he came home and showed me how to put out a candle with a finger whip. He can put out a candle with punches or even kicks, but I'm still learning. On Saturday we went out shooting, and afterwards I learned how to clean guns. It was a good experience, altogether, but I think we should try our best to go shooting when it's warm.

Tonight we are having dinner with Sean's family, and I'm pretty excited because I made dessert. I hope it turns out all right.

Mom and Dad got back from their cruise, and poor mom has a cold. Dad has gone back to China, so I'm going to visit my mom and my friends down south after my birthday.

Happy Year of the Dragon! And if you're not Chinese, Happy Lunar New Year!
