So what started off as a mere sore throat turned into a full-on cold in the space of about twelve hours yesterday. Still, I stuck it out school - through classes, at the clinic, doing the best I can to write Confiteor and stay focused. After school I swung by Walgreens to grab a whole load of orange juice, cough drops, and dayquil-type stuff. Then - then I went to Amber's. It was awesome. We had spinach lasagne, tasty garlic bread - and then talked.

Life. Work. The breeze. I don't spend nearly enough time with her, and it's always good to hang out with her. Poor girl busted her shoulder on Sunday, and her birthday is the coming Sunday, and she is also poorly and ill as well. We both had airborne with supper.

Afterwards I came back to my place and, as luck would have it, ran into Ryan online. It was good to catch up to him. I miss that boy a lot.

The best news I got today is that Utah has lifted the FBI background check requirement for the bar application, so once all my letters get in, I'm going to finish up my application and overnight it to Utah. Then I'll finish paying for Barbri and...bam. The summer will be set (minus an apartment). Everyone keeps asking me if I'm worried about the bar. For a while there I was. Ryan, the person I know who has most recently taken the bar (and one of the harder ones like that), advised me to relax and stick with Barbri and wait for the summer to come. Honestly, the test I'm most worried about is belt testing next Saturday.

Also, no one has asked me to the dance.

Amber and I talked about it last night. We are both beyond caring. I think there should be some super awesome big-screen Rock Band, possibly a Merlin party (gotta convert more fangirls!) and maybe some Wii Sports or something.

Today was...long. Just because I felt so ill. I was awakened at half past four in the morning because my throat hurt so bad. I lolled in bed for a bit, but by half five I couldn't take it anymore so I hauled myself out of bed, showered, dressed, and went to school. Was there by half past six. Had enough time to get almost all the way through my reading for Native American Law and also throw in for a nap before Pat showed up so we could plan for Street Law. I don't think I'm a very good teacher. We'll see what happens.

I made it through classes - people kept commenting on how miserable I looked - although I almost fell asleep in Native American law twice. I ducked into the clinic to chug down boiling water with honey to make my throat feel better, but man...I was miserable. I asked Angela to hunt down Zach for me seeing how he's my home teacher, and he did peg me a text message after Nat Am Law offering to swing by and give me a blessing. Because he's awesome. I went grocery shopping to get enough supplies to last through the storm coming down on my city, and then I came back to my place, called some people, and set about to watch as much Angel as possible and drink as much OJ as possible.

Zach did come by with his roommate (Dental Dave, who probably thinks I'm just pathetic and ill all the time), and they were awesome about the blessing (Zach handled the anointing, Dave did the actual blessing) and now. Now I feel calm and happy. I skipped bellydancing tonight because I need to stay in and try to recuperate. So I've been watching Angel, drinking OJ, and working on Sylvia's baby blanket. I thought the blanket would take the entire skein of yarn, but it looks like I'll be able to get another blanket out of it. Yay!

Also I need to work on Alison's veil.

Man. My immune system sucks.

What are you talking about?

Ah. Well, I'm talking about the Bar exam. As a general rule, attorneys must pass an exam in a given state to practice in that state (and possibly a few other states). Utah usually requires that an applicant to the Utah bar submit an FBI background check with the application. Because the FBI is so far behind on background checks, I can skip it this year and submit it later, which means I can get my application in.

Along with the FBI background check I need six letters of recommendation. As soon as the last one comes in, I can submit my application on time (and avoid a $100 late fee).

Barbri is the name of a bar study course. Over the summer I'll attend Barbri classes to prepare me for the bar exam.

Ryan is a friend of mine who graduated from law school last year and took the bar last summer, and he gave me advice on taking the exam.

Belt testing on Saturday - in martial arts, students have different colored belts to denote their rank. On Saturday, I'm going to (hopefully) take a test and get a new-colored belt to signify that I've advanced a rank (I'm pretty low in the ranks right now).
