Day 861: Road to Nowhere

That was pretty much my weekend. Honestly, it started out pretty well. On Friday I went into the clinic to catch up on client files, to talk to my partner and attempt to do intake (only got one call, and it was Spanish speaking, which didn't end well for me). I had class, of course, and then Angela and I bought tickets for Salt Lake City, with the help of the fabulous Jenny From Oregon (not to be mixed up with Jenifer my clinic partner).
Thursday night was pretty good. I went to bellydancing for the first time in a long time, and I'm pretty excited to learn tribal. I reckon I can teach what I learn to Angela as reinforcement (since she will hopefully be coming along to ninjitsu with me - and apparently once someone has mastered ninjitsu we do call them ninja, I learned), and also so when the time comes we can dance together, which would be pretty darn awesome. I used some muscles I haven't used in a long time. I figure between ninjitsu and dancing I should get into some pretty good shape.
Speaking of ninjitsu - Friday night was awesome. I stayed for the full three hours, and it was good times. We did some practice rolling in the YA class, and I learned to use a springboard, which was good times. We did movement drills in the adult class. In both classes we did free-sparring. Man, I'm feeling it today. It's always a couple of days after that the full realization of what I did hits. I did all right with the kids - honestly better when I fought against a higher rank. There were three black belts in the adult class, so I basically got owned (even though they were being gentle and going easy on me). I realized that I definitely am a girl. (Not that this is my first actual inkling, of course, but you'll see what I mean.) While we were free-sparring occasionally we'd be restricted to just punches or just kicks. Throwing punches (and by throwing punches I mean a good flurry of four to six punches per lunge at an opponent) for half an hour is tiring. I don't have the upper body strength that the guys have. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I outlasted them as far as kicks went.
When I got home I planned on watching an episode or two of Glee and then going to bed. Only my poor neighbour (who is one of the few, the proud, the non-LDS non-drinking law students) was on drunk duty for one of her friends and a mutual neighbor of ours, and I was...awake. Also, after ninjitsu Sensei Tomie and I went to Wendy's and ate. He told wild stories about the kids he taught at school.
Needless to say, I was up till a ridiculous time on Friday night/Saturday morning and I didn't end up hauling myself out of bed until noon on Saturday, after which Dan came by to relieve me of my secured transaction textbooks. And then...I did nothing. It was hazy outside and consequently hazy in my head, so there was a whole lot of dozing and watching of Glee. I did go to D&D (during which Tomie regaled us with tales of his high school days, including the time the Black Panthers marched on his high school), which was fun if a little rowdy. I came home and finished off Glee (I know, bad Nagi) and then slept.
Missed my morning alarm but made it to church safely on time anyway. Saw friends. Felt pretty good about life. Came down with a weather headache something fierce at home though. Still, I have plans to have a good and productive Sunday. I feel so lame about essentially being a month behind on Confiteor, but I will catch up eventually. I need to watch a whole lot of Criminal Minds to get me back in the zone, I think. I want to write letters and index and other useful things.
Today Stephen said hi and told me he'd meant to call me last week to say welcome back, but since I didn't show up at church he wasn't sure if I was back. It made me brighten up a little, because a phone call is nice, but then I wouldn't know if it was because he was being nice or because he's still my home teacher. Ben (1L, transferred in from the other ward) told me he liked my dress because green is his favorite color. Ben barely ever talks to me, so that was kinda nice.
I also got drums from Will, which was nice, although he was a little snarky today. He forgets that she who can murder him with a dime also makes lace.
I really am a girl.
Honest.
