Woot! Back on the song title kick. We'll see how long that lasts.
Friday was a good day. Instead of just reading all day - although I did do a lot of reading - I was out and about on the town. I ran errands for one of my bosses, gave a tour of the law school to an accepted student, and then hung out at the office. Stuffing envelopes. For a research project. I sent out forty nine letters. But first I had to print them, and then stick them in envelopes. I enjoyed the mindless repetition of the project, although six letters in I realized I hadn't signed anything. All my time as a secretary hadn't prepared me for the fact that I now get to sign my own correspondence, like a real lawyer! It was all good, though - even though I freaked out and called a bunch of people for help before settling on a course of action. Sometimes the smallest things derail me. I ended up hacking the letters opening, signing them, and sealing them. I kept eating banana chips to get the taste of envelope adhesive off my tongue. I took all the letters to the post office - 49 of them - and then finished up working at school.
There was some confusion as to what the plans were for Friday night, so it ended up being me, Dan, and Angela going down to the taste of Omaha dealie together, although we met up with Amber, Lindsey, Brielyn, Polly, and Greg (I'm rooting for Amber and Greg who came together and share dessert all cute-like). Angela and I danced to a cool band - nineties guy was there again - and when Amber came she and Dan got up to dance, too. Danced to some Santana, and a random belly dancer spotted me, so we ended up following each other for a bit. I had good Greek food, and we wandered the stalls. I bought a dress, and Angela bought a necklace, and we watched fireworks. All in all a good night.
Today was an awesome day. I was out of bed by half of nine and hit the road - to buy books. I picked up The Demon's Lexicon and the last of the Night World combos by LJ Smith. They're reprinting the Dark Visions Trilogy, it seems so I might pick that up when it comes out, as well as the Secret Circle combos. I sped through the Demon's Lexicon because I absolutely had to devour it, and I absolutely loved it. Loved Nick and Alan and Jamie, though Mae not so much for some reason. Can't really explain it. But I enjoyed that novel immensely and was so, so sad to see it end. Then I blew through Soulmates and Black Dawn and Witchlight and am now annoyed that, after eleven years, I still have not read Strange Fate. I played the drums afterwards, wrote some poetry and fiction, and then Angela and I plotted our girls' night out.
She wore a dress and I wore a dress (the one I'd bought the night before) and we went to the Mongolian Grill of all awesome. We ran into Jake and a whole bunch of Cold Springs kids there, which just proves that nobody's dating, because Jake certainly wasn't there with a date. We went to the movies at the fancy new cinemas out at Westroads and watched the new Nia Vardalos movie which seriously, seriously rocked. Loved it. Laughed a lot. Highly recommend it.
And now I am home.
It's been an awesome weekend. Yay for summer in the city.
