After surviving the writing of the appellate brief of Doom (yes, that's a technical term) I bounced back super-awesome (and my life really does have a 24-hour turnaround like that) and have had the best start to Fall Break ever. Because this year, as a 2L, fall break is less a break and more an opportunity to doom oneself to the inevitability of oral argument for moot court.

I got my brief done on Thursday before noon, and then Angela accompanied me to lunch. It was cool. I felt like dancing. It was the ultimate high, adrenaline rush. No wonder they call it completion, you know? It feels indescribably good. At the end of the day the adrenaline was long gone and I was something of a zombie, and our legal writing professor let us go early, so I went home and curled up on the couch and contemplated the awesomeness of life. I finished Kent's birthday present, a cute little white, red, and blue crocheted moogle.

Friday was uber cool. I was all kinds of nutty and my inner goth girl demanded her break, and since I only had one class I felt like indulging. So I went to school, met with my moot court partner, had one class, ran errands, and went home. Then I went to a party. That's right - a party. But not Kent's party. Jessica, one of the pharmacy students in my ward, had a fall celebration barbecue at her place. And there was Rock Band. I would get that game just for the drums, which I can play on medium, but I have neither the room nor the money, so that's a good thing. I made a couple of new friends, like Anthony and Will M. (Will N is a 1L.) I was up horrifically late as I had had an ill-timed cup of Dr. Pepper and ended up taking bizarre trivia quizzes online until my eyes demanded mercy and so I went to sleep.

Saturday was a good day. I cleaned very thoroughly, and I took a nice easy drive to the temple. (I can take a drive now and again. To my friends in Utah, nyah! because gas is $2.49.) It was a short session as not that many people showed, but it was peaceful and I enjoyed the experience. Then I went home and watched me some Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz while I made an origami box for Kent's birthday present. I got pretty lost on the way to his place, but Angela found me and I got to properly meet his wife and I met his little girl for the first time. It was good times. Kim came with her husband and sons, and I met some of the couples from Kent's ward. A woman in his ward had made him the most awesome-tacular birthday cake ever with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. She'd made the rolling hill with Jack and Sally on it, and his name was spelled out with little tombstones. Once the kids were gone or put to bed we played a cool card game called Guillotine, which was awesome. Then I came home and attempted to write before going to bed.

I was worried that I was going to be a mindless zombie at church today, but it was awesome. One of the high councilmen came and gave us a really great message, and then we watched The Testament for Sunday school, which was amazing. I've only seen it once before, but it's a really powerful movie. I came home right after Relief Society, and then Ryan (still my home teacher after now four partner changes) came over with his new companion teacher James, and we had a good chat before they taught.

Now I'm on my own to prepare for teaching next week, to enjoy what peace and serenity I have left before next week, and to possibly have some food.

Fall is here. I'm ready for it.
