Day 682: Candle

Yep. I've been pretty beat lately. Tuesday was long. Wednesday was even longer. To my vast relief, I didn't have to perform in witness examination, but that's because the professor's lecture was longer than usual. Because now we get to learn how to make objections. (I've since learnt that most of the objections made on Law and Order and the objections we generally shouldn't make.) This objection business is scary because it requires thorough knowledge of the rules of evidence to be able to make good objections, respond well to objections, and defend objections sufficient to earn a favorable ruling from the judge. I suck at evidence. That's probably obvious from the number of times my status on Facebook has involved me being, well, frustrated with evidence. This gives me new incentive to be better at it.
Last night I went to watch a Creighton Soccer game. Mostly I was surrounded by noisy undergrads while I waited for Ryan and Amber to come by. I was so beat by (I know, it's pathetic) half seven that I'd given up my American accent and was a bit surly about talking to people for it. I pretty much crawled into bed when I came home. Read more Death Note manga, which I'm loving more than I should. I love it so much that I'm feeding my manga (read: crack) addiction by judging an undergrad debate tournament during fall break to earn money. I know. Sad. But true.
Today was also a long day. I got some really good help on my appellate brief, so I feel more or less ready to give it a good tackle tomorrow, and then get the rest of the overhaul from my professor on Saturday (yes, Saturday, how craptacular is that? There goes my weekend...). I stuck around after school for a good three hours to help Melilli with trial team practice an objector. I actually made some good objections, which surprised the hell out of me. Melilli encouraged me again to try out for the team. I will. I'll go sign up. It's just that it's during the week of Moot Court, and I know I'll be grouchy and scared and other things. At least I'll have time during fall break to work on a closing.
Gah. I'm tired and have a headache. I blame it on the screwy weather. For the first time in a long time I'm in bed with my laptop on my lap instead of huddled on the sofa. I haven't had my laptop on my bed since I was at home. I missed a call from BenTen, so I sent her a message, but she hasn't called me back. We have such different schedules now that we hardly ever manage real-time contact. Makes me sad.
