It feels so, so good to be home. Unbelievably good.

but first, a page from Nagi's annals of pathetic fangirliness: )

So Friday was pretty rockin' awesome. I packed (but still managed to forget the prom pictures of me and Dave), and I got my laptop and whatnot together. Wrote. Tried not to be utterly lazy. Once Angela got off work, she and I went dress shopping. At the place where Angela got her law prom dress earlier this year. Apparently the woman running the shop was having a sale - dresses for ten bucks. I tried on more than Angela and bought more than Angela, but hey, twenty bucks for a pair of dresses that usually went around 200 bucks a piece is pretty good to me. Angela helped pick the one I love best - cream with a black lace bodice. I remember holding it up and thinking it wasn't much and even if it wasn't, it'd look terrible on me, but I tried it on for kicks and...wow. I'm pretty excited. I need it hemmed and nitpicked, obviously, because I am a midget, but I am crazy excited.

Then we went to Burger King for junk food and chatting. And Angela came to ninjitsu with me. I told her to resist Tomie's urges to hit the mats, but I'm thinking next time maybe she'll join in. Because I'd really like a training partner, and she'd be good at it. Better than she thinks. Plus we live in a city and a little self-defense never hurt anyone.

Afterwards we went to see Avatar with Dan, Will, and Kari. Will and Kari were pretty much in their own little world, but we had fun nonetheless. I refused to watch any moments of alien kissing/nookie no matter how humanoid the aliens. The movie was stunning and amazing with the graphics, but in the end it felt like every other book I'd read or movie I'd watched where some superior other 'went native' and ended up being the big hero to fight off the others who were coming to wipe out the natives. I dug the concepts and I liked how the aliens' connection to their planet was super awesome and cool and full of light and electricity, but...I felt a bit disappointed. Although it was an interesting sci fi reversal to see the humans attacking aliens instead of the humans being victimized and rising up again. Also, the protagonist went native in a way no other protagonist could, given the setting.

Afterwards Angela and I went to my place and traded things like tupperware and spare keys we'd accumulated over the semester. We watched goofy videos online, and then I stayed up reading and writing. Went to bed around two.

Got up at a quarter to five. Shaneen took me to the airport at half five. For so early in the morning there was quite a line. I saw Katie E (from Florida, on the way home with her cat) and I saw Professor Watts. Almost didn't make it into the air once we were all on board the plane - we started to take off, then stopped, looped around, and then made it into the air. I sat next to a guy who was on his first flight. For a party in Phoenix. I told him I hoped it was a rockin' party.

I ate in Denver, and had about five minutes to spare before my connecting flight boarded, and then...then I slept some. Crocheted some. Not used to Frontier air, but it wasn't a bad experience.

I booked it through the airport in Nevada, almost ran to my parents. It was so good to see them again. I didn't realize how much I'd missed them, or how much of a cliché airport reunion scene I was making, but once I saw them it didn't matter. We picked up a Christmas present for mom - a shiny wooden jewelry armoire - and had lunch at Costco. I slept on some of the drive home. We listened to Les Mis the rest of the way. Once we were unloaded and unpacked, Mom and I went shopping. We went to Costco so she could get her glasses, and then we looked at puppies - there were some people selling puppies on the side of the road, pit bulls and jack russell terriers and adorable Yorkie puppies. Then the cops made them move along.

We went to the craft store and then came home. In a fit of Colin Morgan fangirlishness I picked up a copy of Island, and I read through about half of it before dinner. Then we had dinner - awesome home-cooked mom food - and I hung out with my parents. Dad put on Foyle's War, and I'm pretty sure it was the same episode I saw the last time I was home. I got caught up on my online writing (save Confiteor, which got deliciously derailed by Merlin) and now...now I think it is time for bed.

I think.

I'm home.
