I strongly suspect I have used that title before. But it's especially apt, given what went on today. Today started off pretty good, actually. I was seriously, seriously beat last night, so I went to bed early (early meaning before midnight). FHE went well and people had fun, and I made a new friend (Liz, 18, just hitting the singles ward on the heels of her older brother), and I got to talk to Daniel and company online, and I even got a decent amount of fiction writing done (none of that stuff I owe people, though), but I was beat. So I was in bed before midnight.

Naturally, my inner alarm clock woke me a little after six. I ignored said alarm clock and went back to sleep. Whenever I zoom straight to REM sleep like that, I have the weirdest dreams. Often they involve some sort of disaster/survival horror theme in which I am fully capable but my gear refuses to work or my friends leave me behind. Angela laughed when I told her the tale.

But yesterday, after my rising 2L friends took the FRE test, they came to visit, and Jenny invited me and Angela to come hang out by her pool before she leaves town. So I decided to take Jenny up on her invite. After all, her place has free wifi, so I could totally get work done (and I did). Only after I got all dressed up (in a swimsuit and shorts) and ready to go, I locked myself out of my flat. It was a classic Hollywood moment - there I was, strolling down the hall, all excited, and then I realized I had no car keys. So I turned around and dashed to the door, arm outstretched to catch the door - only for it to click closed in my face. So I called Angela (woke her up) to see if she still had a spare key and would she come rescue me. She said she'd come rescue me and she'd come study by Jenny's pool, so I revised my article and waited for Angela to come get me. She rescued me, we made PB&J sandwiches, and we took off for Jenny's. We got to see Jenny's place, which is seriously awesome and looks like it came out of a designer magazine even though every stick of furniture in there is hers (I keep forgetting Jenny is 31 and has actual assets). Then we went to lounge by the pool.

And by lounge I mean work hard. I revised my article again, worked in some revisions, and then did my best to figure out how to collapse rambling police descriptions into numerical responses. So far so good, I think. I realized that I put in an extra hour yesterday, so I took an hour off early today and we went to get food at this awesome Mexican restaurant near Jenny's place. We had fun talking and eating chips and salsa (I ate way too much, as did Jenny, since it's a rare treat for her to be able to eat lots at a restaurant due to her gluten allergy), and then we split up. (While at the pool, I met Jenny's longtime boyfriend, David, a genuinely cool guy). Angela and I swung by the comic shop to pick up Madame Xanadu (I found out that series was still going while at D&D on Saturday night), and then we split up.

I got in some good drum practice, worked some more on the granny squares for the baby sweater I'm making for Niichan's impending baby boy, and then went belly dancing, which was awesome.

My days are full and I am never bored, and this makes me happy.

Now to get my daily writing done, eh?
