Wow. This is pretty darn weird. I'm almost done as 2L. Where has all the time gone? It definitely flew.

I spent Friday night hanging out at my apartment getting caught up on TV shows I don't get to watch during their regular hours, like Castle (thanks Del, for the rec!) and The Dollhouse (which I could've watched Friday night but it wasn't on for some inexplicable and annoying reason, like Prison Break). I got semi caught-up on some of my internet writing, and then I went to bed at a fairly decent time.

Saturday was - full of wow, to say the least. I was up early and went over to Council Bluffs (in Iowa) for a law school Habitat for Humanity volunteer dealie. I met one fellow law student's boyfriend and together he, Jordan, and I learned how to hang dry wall and use a screw gun. I cut out a little early to go to the temple. While I was talking to Bishop Dallon in the waiting room, he asked how life was treating me and reminded me that I'm almost done with my second year of law school. It's gone by so fast. I was writing a letter to my friend Daniel today and I realized that I hardly take any pictures with my school friends like I did as an undergrad, and I was reminded of that song from Avenue Q "I wish I could go back to college", because one character sings a line "I wish I'd taken more pictures." And I do wish that. Even though this year was hard, I made some really good friends and we had good times, and I want pictures of me and my friends up in our nerdy study corner doing our thing before some of them graduate.

After the temple I came home, ate lunch, took a nap, and then outlined, which was good of me to do. We girls - Amber, Angela, and I - decided to take Ryan on one last hurrah before finals, before he graduates and abandons us all, and we planned to go to The Max which is, purportedly, the best gay club in America. Apparently the New York Times thought so, at one point or another. Amber thought we should dress up, but I am Nagi, and I am not in possession of clubbing clothes (and let's face it, for a dance club, my loli-goth outfits would have given me heat stroke) so I did the old-fashioned back-up, the school girl look. Only before we went clubbing (what's the point in going before nine thirty anyway, right?) I went to D&D. Which was good fun - we were on such a roll that we didn't even do the whole intermission thing like we usually do. And according to Tomie and Chauncy, the school girl outfit works and will get me dates. (But not in a gay club. Seriously.)

After D&D Sean invited me to go check on the new Wolverine movie when it comes out, so I get to go geek it out with the D&D crowd at a nerd movie, and I'm pretty excited about that. Once we exchanged phone numbers and whatnot, I went to Amber's so we could see about getting outfits spruced up and doing make-up. And then we met Ryan down at the club. We joked that he might show up in slacks, an oxford shirt, and a tie and it would be all wrong, but he was there in jeans and a reasonable shirt, so it was all good. We went into the club and checked out both dance floors. The techno floor was empty, so we tried the hip-hop floor. Had to break to seek out Angela, and then went back to the hip-hop floor. Where on lonely little gay boy in jeans and a neon-green t-shirt set his sights on poor Ryan (we girls did our best to form a human wall). The kid stared at Ryan the entire time he was dancing and was trying to be all "come hither" like but Ryan was happy dancing and mildly oblivious, so we girls just had a good laugh about it, and eventually the kid went away. He was pretty bummed that Ryan wouldn't give him the time of day. It got hot, so we headed out to the back patio to cool off and talk, which was good times. And then the techno dance floor had picked up, so we went back in.

The fun thing about the Max is that people actually dance, and all around the main dance floor are big boxes on which people can dance, and for most of the night really attractive, shirtless gay men are up there dancing, so we girls can enjoy the view all we want and not feel a smidgeon of guilt. The music had picked up, and the four of us were dancing, and about thirty seconds after we'd been out on the floor Ryan's little admirer reappeared. He totally had Ryan on his radar - it was hilarious. He was dancing a little distance away - and I was tempted to just take pity on him and ask him to dance with the four of us - and then he started edging closer. There were a couple of gay guys dancing behind me (they thought I made the most adorable little school girl ever) and so he started dancing with them, but he was all kinds of staring at Ryan the entire time.

We got hot again, so we headed back out to chat and cool off, and wabam! Two seconds after we get out there, Ryan's little admirer appears. Of course, he had a potential hook-up in tow, and we joked that he was trying to make Ryan jealous, but it was seriously, seriously funny. We agreed that, given how we'd been dancing - three girls dancing with a boy and no indication that the boy was dating any of the girls - it was a fair assumption that Ryan might be gay. After all, it looked like we were his straight girl posse or something. And then Ryan mentioned that he should have expected something like this to happen to him; after all, he'd come to the club and "purposely availed" himself of its services and its reputation, and it would be understandable, to a reasonable gay man, that a guy dancing with three chicks, none of whom are his girlfriend, is "purportedly" gay. Me, Angela, and Amber about fell over laughing, because using phrases like "purposely availed" and "purported" is such a lawyer thing to do, and it was a sad lawyer/law student thing, that we could joke about Ryan's admirer in law terms.

We went back in for the last dance on the techno floor, and it seriously, seriously rocked. The music was awesome, the crowd was huge, and I danced my little heart out. For the last mix, a spot opened up on one of the boxes, and so Ryan jumped up there so he'd have more room to dance. I guess he got his straight mojo back at the last, because the two gay guys on either side of him vamoosed it pretty quickly, and a couple of girls joined him up on the box. According to Amber, about ten seconds after Ryan made it onto the box, his little admirer beelined for him out of the crowd. We're never going to let Ryan live it down. He wasn't embarrassed or disgusted by it at all, but then he's pretty chill that way. When we were leaving the club, a couple of guys in a car were checking out Ryan, and then a couple of guys in a different car cat-called me and Amber. I all kinds of flashed them the twos, but then I'm mean that way sometimes.

After I got home from clubbing I drank a lot of water, took a hot shower (because I was pretty icky after how hot that club was) and then went to bed. I knew I wasn't genuinely tired, so I watched a little Day Carry Night to get to sleep, and then put on some music. I fell asleep at about two a.m. listening to my "middle of the night" playlist (the sort of songs that are quiet and maudlin and good for reading/writing angst in the middle of the night)...and was awakened, rather randomly, by Imogen Heap's The Moment I Said It. At some time around five in the morning. (I'd taken off my specs and my watch and my alarm clock was a bit blurry). I wondered why that song had woken me up, and then I realized the song hadn't. But my neighbor having loud noisy sex had. I sighed, buried my head under a few blankets, and went back to sleep, sans music. And was reawakened at half eight, like a human, by my alarm. I decided to give myself half an hour to lie in, but there it was, the neighbor with the loud sex. I was a little freaked out, because I can rarely hear my neighbor at all, and this was the first time it had happened. And also...twice in three hours? Seriously? Not a great way to start my sabbath.

Today was a chill day. I wore my kimono to church. To my mother's horror, I've lost weight, so the obi made for the kimono was too big, so I ended up use the obi Chanita made for my other kimono. Either way, it worked. I sat on the back row with Ryan and teased him about his admirer. I managed to get my letters for the week done - I received four: one from my friend Halley on a mission, my friend Chris on a mission (he ships out for Japan next week), one from my buddy [livejournal.com profile] aether_entropy, and from my friend Daniel.

All that's left for me to do is decorate the envelopes, catch up on more internet writing, and call my mom. I'll eat dinner sometime in there, I'm sure. Mostly I keep eating steam buns, because I love them a lot a lot.

Also, for interested parties, next semester I am signed up for advanced con law (yes, advanced ways in being a con artist), juvenile law, marriage and divorce (and no, I can not help anyone with pending divorces), prosecution of criminal cases (Jack McCoy, here I come) and trial team (although I didn't sign up for that as much as sell my soul to Melilli for it). I completely spaced filling out cards for lottery classes, and I would have won most of them because I'm going to be a 3L, and I did all that hard work for a shot at scientific evidence, but I realized that there's no way I could handle being on trial team and in sci evidence, so there you go. Still, I feel like being a doof for spacing that. Also, Professor K asked if I wanted to be a writing center tutor next year. I'm seriously considering it.
