Day 711: Weekend Trip
Dec. 30th, 2008 04:55 pmIt's a pretty simplistic title, but it serves me well.
Saturday was pretty tame. Mom and I took down the Christmas tree and then Shannon and Wayne came home from their cruise. We had a fancy Christmas family dinner, complete with Christmas crackers. Mom and I did the dishes, and then we played table games, a round of Uno (everyone dealt once) and a round of Scattergories (everyone rolled once). Wayne was the undisputed winner of the Uno, and dad beat me at Scattergories (by two points, no less! Grr!). Once Mom and Dad went to bed, we "kids" went to town on the Wii, first at the carnival games, then at Wii Sports. Wayne was the best by far. He owned me at golf and bowling, but once again, for some inexplicable reason, I totally owned him at boxing. Go figure.
Sunday we went to church (Shannon and Wayne headed back up to Salt Lake City) and then Mom, Dad, and I drove up to Salt Lake City. We went to dinner at the Sweet Tomato, and then I went to hang out with Rowsdower, which was pretty much full of awesome. He gave me presents - a couple of seriously, seriously cool comic books and a felted mouse hair clip, and he showed me stuff he's been working on and selling, and then we played a heck of a lot of rock band. We both sang and played the guitar. I was the only one who went out for the drums.
Monday was pretty chill. Mom and I dropped Dad off at the family history center, picked up Shaz (I got to see her new house) and then we went to the mall. We shopped a bit, and then I met up with Del. Which was full of awesome. I haven't seen her in a while, so it was cool. We wandered around the shops and talked. We got lunch and talked more. That was the best of it, just us talking and catching up and solving all the world's problems and our own. I missed talking to Del, and I was really glad to see that married life is agreeing with her.
After Del had to leave (so she and her man could move, and so she could go to her little brother's birthday) we picked up Dad, dropped off Shannon, and went to the hotel. I finished crocheting a pair of baby booties and started in on the baby bonnet. We went to eat at Sweet Tomato again and then watched TV for the rest of the evening.
Today we drove back down to St. George. When I wasn't driving I was crocheting, and I totally finished the baby bonnet. So I'm pretty excited. I also have a renewed intent to learn how to tat. I'm gonna learn if it flipping kills me, I swear. It's pretty much a lost art, but I plan on keeping it alive.
I'm excite for New Year's Eve - I'll get to see my old crew again. There must be partying - I insist on it. I plan on kidnapping Marty for the festivities - I've missed the kid something fierce.
All in all, life has been good.
