Day 677: Monday, Monday
Sep. 30th, 2008 08:01 amMonday was an awesome day for me. Not a common declaration from many people in the world whose work/school week begins with Monday. But mine was pretty awesome. I got to school in good time - Dad dropped me off - and I got all my homework done before nine. Might have mentioned that before. But it felt good. I was a bit spacey in evidence and crim law and felt pretty bad for it, but I have been taking notes and there are at least some things I think I understand. I should study harder for evidence. It just feels like civ pro all over again.
I got to talk to my best friend over lunch and get the dish on her man. I've met him before, and he's a really great guy, and I'm so glad that she's happy. She got herself a good man, and with all the jerkfaces who've broken her heart, she deserves a good man. For about two seconds I was horrified to realize I'm the only one without a boyfriend, but then I remembered that I'm a 2L and I don't get a boyfriend. Also, my friend Sarah - who is beautiful and talented and wonderful - does not have a boyfriend. If she doesn't have one, I certainly won't be getting one any time soon. Witness exam practice after school went all right. It's scary, realizing that I will in fact use everything I'm learning in this class. One day I'll stand up in a court room and start my opening argument and realize that I used to do the same thing with a bunch of law students in a study room in the library, kicking around in jeans and a t-shirt and asking each other questions about eternal life and immortal souls.
Probably one of the highlights of my day was talking to Logan. We chatted online for a bit, but mostly we sent messages back and forth over MySpace having a good discussion about the Fourth Amendment and "civilian" misconceptions about it (most of which can be blamed on television). I finally threw down a post on LostKetra to play a game, since none of my other online RPs are anywhere to be found. Even though I have a lot of work each day, it's nice to be able to kick around and post in a game in the ten minutes between classes or something.
I hung out with Mom and Dad last night. We watched TV together - Heroes and CSI:Miami. Mom made good food (she also made me lunch today, knowing that I have institute at lunch) and she helped sew eyes on some of my Cthulhu dolls. I have one in each color done, and I promised to make her one as well when I'm done. Which is cool. I'll make her a traditional green one. I'm really excited to make all the cool stuff she brought for me to try out. I attempted to fold an origami elephant for Amber last night, but I have been cruelly thwarted on one step. I got thwarted a lot along the way, but I got part way through. I'll have to look at it again tonight and see if I see something new.
I took Mom and Dad to the airport this morning. I was sad to see them go. They were only here briefly, but I'll miss them like mad. At least I have good food to keep me going for a while before I go back to my stressed-out student diet.
