Day 601: A Monday that fairly rocked
Mar. 31st, 2008 10:45 pmI finished writing my letter to Aaron and sent it off in the mail, along with a paper dragon I'd made, courtesy of my shiny new origami box. It was red and black, for his clan colors.
When I got to school I worked my tail off - it was good. Got through half of the monster Con Law reading so I can be ready for Wednesday. We're starting to alter our homework habits to prep for finals, which hit in about three weeks, and which makes me nervous. I also signed up to get my evil motion brief checked over at the legal writing center, which should help me immensely, because my first draft was full of suck.
When I got done with the Con Law reading I checked the internet, like I do, and saw that Del, poor Del, got into another car crash. So I spazzed out and called her. But she's okay, which is great, and her car is okay, which is a miracle.
At lunch I went to watch "Are You Smarter Than a Law Student," which featured our Uncle Sean (Professor Watts). There were nine categories, four for "grade school," and five for "law school" (but they didn't feature any of the subjects taught by the professors playing). The professors only got two student lifelines. One of the "grade school" math problems was a derivative. As in calculus. To my vast surprise, I even knew what the answer was, but still, they don't teach that in grade school. It was fun to watch, and also spazzed me out, because I totally biffed the Contracts question, which was on a subject that will be on this semester's exam. We also biffed the Torts question, but that was on last semester's exam, and it was a trick question anyway.
I got my glasses in the mail, which was a huge relief, but I delayed putting them on until after FHE.
It also rained like hell today. I lay in bed and listened to thunder crash and watched lightning flash outside my window. I was absurdly grateful for the admittedly cute little yellow ducky umbrella my mom got me. It fits in my locker and doesn't soak my books. So I listened to my Rain songs playlist, which is a whole bunch of songs with "Rain" in the title (should be obvious, huh?).
Did kendo after FHE tonight. It was awesome. Got Brielyn started on Nitou Ryu and also sparred with Dustin. He's got great form and control, but I think he was a bit hesitant about following through with his attacks. Very good fighter to watch, but he just didn't follow through with most of his strikes and was disappointed in himself whenever one of us girls landed a hit. Also, perhaps he's too much of a gentleman to hit a girl, really. Brielyn nailed me good in the face, and I realized how weird I am when I was disappointed that it wouldn't result in a black eye. At least I didn't lose a contact lens. After I got home I spent half an hour repairing holes in my favorite shirts. It was weirdly domestic. I can't wait to get home for the summer and spar with the gang.
