Day 561: Imminent death
Jan. 19th, 2008 10:40 pmEver sat like a sitting duck with a precog aiming a gun at you? Telekinesis is not a big save when the precog knows he's gonna shoot you.
Here I am, Nagi the sitting duck.
Thursday was good. Long, but I had time to sneak in a nap before Legal writing. I think I'll really enjoy this class. I worked my tail off - slogged through thirty pages of Civ Pro. Also worked hard on Friday. Was a bit later than usual, but that's all right - I still got stuff done. Had free lunch with the gang while lawyers tried to woo us into selling our summers clerking. Friday afternoon was more work in the library - and I nearly froze to death. It was also temple night, which was cool. I think Nate sorta tried to ask me out to dinner afterwards, but I had an appointment. At the hospital. It was all right - I got to see the new episode of Numbers. Other than that it wasn't so hot.
When I got home I passed out on the sofa for a couple of hours. Then I woke up, mailed off Schu's present - which I'd picked up on Wednesday after school - and came home. Showered. Cleaned the apartment pretty thoroughly. Had a good lunch that I actually made without the microwave - rice and steamed wontons.
I still suck at dodgeball. Worse than I did in high school PE, it would seem. But it was fun, playing with the kids from Cold Springs. Brielyn was the only other one from Winter Quarters who showed up. Scott invited me last night, so I figured, why not? But it threw off my whole Saturday groove. So I came home, watched way too much Weiss Kreuz Kapitel for my own good, and then tried. I read Torts. I briefed one case for Con Law. Might as well do it Monday morning.
Today was relaxing, though. At least my place is clean.
And my swords came in the mail. Makes me happy. DVDs and kodachi-length bokuto. What more can a kid ask for? So we'll see how I do at nitoryu, eh?
It's a weird start to the semester overall.
I also read more than my fair share of angsty blade'n'claw online one night. Made like a little girl with a skinned knee. But I'm content, if a bit strangely restless tonight.
Aaron, Jordan's roommate, asked me to the big dance Saturday night, so I said yes. He's a nice kid, a Comp Sci PhD student, and friendly, nerdy, and not too terribly tall so I end up staring at his shirt buttons while we dance. Now we'll see if I can learn to put on make-up and stuff.
Ooh goody.
Here comes that Desert Eagle now.
