Yet. I'm sure there's going to be an even longer haul. Friday was perhaps the longest day of my life. It started at six and didn't stop till nearly two the next morning. School was all right - hung out with friends between classes, studied hard, all that. Professor Watts had overdosed on coffee and was practically a ping-pong ball during Con Law. After school I had only a brief time to rest before getting dressed nicely and rushing back to bailiff for moot court. It was a lot of keeping my head down and showing time cards to speakers and judges, but it was interesting to watch. It's much more like LD and it is like C/X, so I'll have to adjust my speaking style heavily. It doesn't help that judges try to take up all your time by asking questions, and they give you the runaround, trying to get you concede things you really shouldn't concede. I heard lots of good advice. I wonder who my moot court partner will be. It need not necessarily be a friend - in fact, sometimes it's better if friends don't compete together. We'll see.

Right after that I rushed home, got changed into my Halloween costume (I have a nice white dress, so I threw on some sneakers and called it 'runaway bride'). There was some confusion as to who was meeting where to carpool, and I ended up following Dan to the Cold Springs building, where we met up with Jessop, Amy, John, Sean, and Ryan, and John drove us up to Lincoln. Their institute building seemed a lot smaller, and it was crowded. I was tired and not as energetic a dancer as I usually am (not to mention that I'm not so good at dancing in a dress), but I had fun. I danced with Jordan once, Thomas three times (he can swing and salsa) and Nate three times. I also danced with a guy named David (I had to - he was dressed as a dragon!) and Jason-from-the-other-ward (who officially creeps me out and I should, henceforth, do all in my power to avoid him). Monika wore a glittery dress and was Aphrodite. Rachel had an awesome zoot suit and was Michael Jackson (a white woman, after all) - it worked for her, because she's an awesome dancer. Heidi was the little girl from E.T., complete with ribbons in her hair and a little ET doll. It was fun. They played a lot more slow songs than I was used too. One girl had mini cereal boxes all over her speared with knives, and she was a cereal killer. It took some of the others a moment to figure it out. That made me laugh. We danced all night and then John drove us back to Omaha. I pretty much fell into bed.

Saturday morning was fun, if crazy. I got up and took myself off to the stake building for an Enrichment activity - decorating gingerbread houses. Apparently Omaha has a gingerbread house show every year at the trail center, and lots of people donate houses. Jessica, my visiting teacher, went nuts and designed us a Santa's Workshop and North Pole Village. Sister Dallon and I made the glue-frosting, and then we went to town. It was a small group - two Checketts sisters, Sister Dallon, the Sister Missionaries, the Relief Society president, and three or four other girls, but we had four buildings to work on. It was lots of messy fun. The Sister Missionaries and Brielyn built Santa's house. All by herself, Monika handled the toy shop. Sister Dallon and another girl (Audrey?) built the elves' house, and me, Abby, Rachel, and Kara worked on the reindeer barn. It was lots of fun, something I've never done before. And it was real gingerbread, too, not graham crackers. After that I went home and slept for two hours, and then went to meet Jason to see if Ella wanted to learn kendo. Which she did. We hit up the mall for a shinai, but Jason had no cash, so we made do with my shinai and bokken. I think Ella was mostly interested in whacking at me, but she caught on fairly quickly. There was an awkward moment in the sword shop looking at shinai and the guy who owned the shop thought I was Ella's mom there to get her her very first shinai. The girl's practically blonde. I am the antithesis of blonde. Awkward.

But we had fun, and then I came home, got all my homework for Monday done, watched some Bleach, and chatted to Seirra and Daniel online. I'm hardly online anymore, and I miss hearing from my friends. It was all good in the end, though. And now I must get ready for church.
