Day 516: Another long haul
Sep. 28th, 2007 09:18 amSo the days are long. Yesterday was long, but that was partially my fault. I nearly fell asleep in Civ Pro a couple of times. Again. There are certain utterly illegible portions of my notes, but hopefully study group today will take care of that. Ack. I haven't updated my Civ Pro outline in forever. But if he continues to give use these awesome chapter outlines I may not. It will probably be to my detriment, but I am trying, you know.
Right after school Mom and I explored the city to find a shoe repair shop - not to repair shoes, mind you. To fix my backpack. I took Brad the Boss's advice and use two backpacks for school, one for MWF and one for TR. And the strap on the TR one was breaking, probably due to the horrendous weight I carry around in that thing. Our first attempt was aborted rather abruptly, given that the repair place we found only took orders but didn't do the repairs there. However, the desk clerk was very helpful (people out here are so friendly) and so we found a new place. The repair man was chatty and the job took longer than we would have liked, but the bag is fixed. Hopefully I won't have to get it repaired again.
Then Mom and I got to go to the airport. We got lost taking the highway, and I discovered a much more efficient way to get there, so I dropped Mom off and then took myself home. Nothing fun in the mail. Did some homework. I noticed I had missed calls from Dad because I turn my ringer on my phone off whenever I'm at school. So, against my better judgment, I called him back. I wonder what an international call is going to do to my phone bill. Dad said it was an emergency in the message, though, so I had to call. I had suspicions, and they were right - he was in the hospital. Chest pains. Thankfully not a heart attack, just probably because he's getting frail now, and he had a cold earlier in the week. So I panicked a bit.
It took me far too bloody long to get my briefs done for classes today, and I got some done just now because Con Law was cancelled. Why did it take so long? Facebook. Bugger. Yeah, between Monika and Shaz I finally gave in. Found some friends I haven't heard of in a long time. One of them is at Harvard, and when I saw that I was hardly surprised - boy always was a genius.
Anyway. I should do property. The cold is fading. Now that Mom is gone, I have the distinct urge to hide in my apartment and not come out, and am rather daunted at the prospect of a super social weekend, but I know I need to be more social. Or eat the cheesecake mom left behind. It's great.
