Day 467: Heavy metal lunch
May. 3rd, 2007 04:30 pmI think I used this title once before. Whatever.
I am still amazed at how much a little bit of heavy metal at lunch makes my day go faster.
Since the database at work is as prissy as a medieval princess (the non-sword-wielding kind) it loses documents and other records all the time, so I must fix it often.
Today, that meant spending pretty much the entire three hours before lunch reading through the audit logs. I think I fell asleep with my finger on the scroll button several times, which was bad. But a little heavy metal - mostly X Japan, though some Black Sabbath and Metallica were also not amiss - and everything was okay. I often forget how much I love loud electric guitars and a head-banging beat.
After lunch was better. My mom came to show me this gorgeous frame she'd bought for my diploma and medallion - I got a medallion for graduating summa cum laude, and she wanted to make sure my graduation robe would fit. Yes, they have college ones for people as short as me. There is a legitimate reason Schuldig calls me Chibi. But I got to do more interesting things on the database after lunch, and met the new girl, Kacee. We got to chat for a bit while the boss and the paralegal were distracted, and she seems nice enough.
Tonight it's just me after dinner, because the parents are going to some strange church musical. Church musical? I understand your skepticism. There's a reason I'm not going. I think I'm going to be a terrible lout and lounge around enjoying more Japanese metal. Yay!
And maybe write.
