Day 434: Poor Cupid
Feb. 14th, 2007 09:09 pmLittle guy's probably been overworked today.
When I got in this morning, Brad had heart-shaped donuts and other treats on the main table for us to share. Though, being the munchie person that he is (if I didn't know better I'd swear he was a stoner the way he gets the munchies) he ate most of them. I never did eat a donut. Dianne was a sweetheart and left a very cute gift-bag on my desk full of chocolate and cute girly Avon things. Sammi also brought awesome heart-shaped sugar cookies. I love plain sugar cookies. And Sammi's frosting wasn't awful.
I spent most of the day plonking away at the computer database. It was full of bugs and all sorts of nastiness, so I cleaned it up and then did boring data entry. I also got to run around to the courts. Mistakenly went up to the district court, but I did get to hang around the civil clerk's window and watch, in morbid amusement, as two women filed for divorce (not from each other). I'm sure their husbands are up for a very happy valentine's day. Then I got to go say hi to the nice clerks down at the justice court. Scored some new court dates for the boss. Mailed letters. No nasty carpet fumes today. Worked on a short story and read some Musashi at lunch.
My dad is helping me with my grad school essays, and today I managed to think about grad school without approaching total mental breakdown. I'm sure it sounds cheesie, but after praying with the branch president last night I feel much better. I felt better right after the prayer, a bit sick on the way home, but then okay today. I still have to take a trip up to Cedar to talk to some professors and do some other random stuff.
Watched TV with the parents. Mom helped me with a story. Seirra knows what story. I had to chop it down to five-thousand words to make the word count limit. I ended up cutting out Ben's mom altogether. She wasn't in the story much anyway. I think the story's a bit bare, the way I hacked it up to pieces. I'd have to submit it to people and let them decide. Sometimes I do go a bit nuts with the details, so maybe dragging it down to the bare bones is good. I've won small contests before, so I'm not getting my hopes up. But if I can try for law school I can try for a fiction contest. Prize is better money than I've ever hoped to win before.
Life is going okay. Hope it's going well for all the rest of you.
Happy Valentine's Day.
