Wow. I'm updating from work. It feels a little weird. I brought crocheting and drawing and manga and my novel to work on, but right now I'm not in the mood for it, and so here I am, trawling the internet in the middle of the night. Oh well. I just got back from the three best days of my life. Okay, so that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it was awesome. I think I may have reclaimed some of the tan from my youth, from days spent in the sun and in the water. I had s'mores for the first time, and went tubing and cliff jumping for the first time. I discovered that I am less squeamish around strangers than around acquaintances.

The drive down to Powell wasn't as long as we'd thought it would be (beware that MapQuest) and, apart from a little hiccup with getting on the right boat, everything ran smoothly. My days were spent lounging in the sun reading, playing cards, swimming, tubing, and hanging out with Del and her family. I was made an honorable Drake, which was an honor indeed, and her family was lovely. I've never really been around that many teenage boys like that before save when they were my age, and we had a lot of fun, talking and joking around. The boys inducted me into the hazards of cliff jumping and tubing, and it turns out that I'm more adventerous than even I knew. At night we slept on the upper deck, and it was one huge slumber party. We would talk and tell stories. We even read some John Donne poetry (elegy 19 anyone?) and then Del got us into some deep conversation for our last night. We'd planned to stay up all night, but I think only she and Tyler really managed it. I relaxed like I haven't in a long time - which is a bit odd, seeing as how I went to Europe for a month at the beginning of summer - but it felt great to know that I really didn't have to do anything I didn't want to do. Of course, I helped with the dishes and cleaning on the last day. Del and I collected lots of soda tabs to give to the children's hospital up north, and her family was really awesome about helping out with it. That break did me a lot of good. For anyone who wants the gory details, ask and I shall send a letter. But I'm back!
