Day 315: More insanity
Jun. 28th, 2006 02:51 amSo, Sunday was the, er, total suck. I worked up at the Beaver facility on Saturday night. Luckily enough for me, Saturday morning training was cancelled. I was dead tired driving home on Sunday morning, so I actually pulled over to a rest stop and slept for a bit before finishing the drive. Del and I went out to meet Rae, her ex-husband, and her kids, whom we will be minding while she is away in Europe and her ex is unavailable. They're pretty awesome girls. I'm not great with kids, but they seem quite self-sufficient.
After the whole Rae thing I attempted to sleep some, and Del was working swing. She called about half an hour into my sleep and said that one of the residents had decided to liberate herself, so I roused BenTen, and we climbed into my car and set a-hunting. We hit the freeway, the truck stop, and then even on foot, but to no avail. Del let me go home so I could get more sleep, but I didn't get much. I ended up calling my mom to tell her what was up, and she came up to Cedar.
It was so nice of her. She made me and Ericka a kick-ass quiche and salad dinner, and then drove me up to the Beaver facility again. The night staff turnover is ridiculous, and the chick I was covering for will probably be fired, I hear. I worked with a girl named Moni who just graduated from SUU. We talked, with another girl named Lucia, and played the Disney Scene It game out of pure nostalgia. We had training for CPR and First Aid first thing in the morning. The CPR was surprisingly a lot of review for me, but the First Aid was new. It was fun, working with the girls who had also come for training, as well as Chris. He's a decent guy, but I just dislike working with him. I went out to lunch with the gang again, and we finished off the training. I took the van back with the others, and Mom picked me up. I slept for as along as I could, woke up, showered, dressed, ate, and went straight back to work.
BenTen or Josh would have let me sleep if I'd been posted with one of them, but I ended up Next Door with Gretta. We're not meant to sleep on the job, but due to sheer human exhaustion I drifted off a couple of times anyway. I kept myself awake by watching Peacemaker Kurogane. I was sad because I didn't have the very last disk with me. Urk. I cried during the episode "Rain" where the kunoichi is dead. Yes. Very sad indeed. Gretta kept stepping out for smoke breaks too, which irked me even more. When I finally got home, I slept like the dead.
Tonight we attempted to game, but it didn't go so well. Josh drove up to get Marty, and I was just along for the ride. We stopped at the truck stop, and Marty bought all of us dinner, which was great. Aya and Panda came over a little late, and we tried to game, but none of us really had our hearts in it. We just ended up eating and drinking - Del had bought cool bread and honey butter, and we had sodas - and talking. Panda showed us the demo, including Robin Williams, for Spore, the new Sim Everything game, as it were. Rodney even showed up for a bit and conned some of us into sharing his eel cookies. After the party broke up, we girls took Marty home, and then hit Wal Mart. It was a load of fun, all three of us dressed in black (We are now unofficially the Wyrd Sisters of Macbeth Manor) and out marauding in the middle of the night. We definitely turned more than a few heads. We bought food, and an internet router, which was probably the most fun of all. We visited Rowsdower and Jun Pei for a bit, during which time Rodney called and asked if any of us were having an allergic reaction, probably to the eel cookies. Once we were home we put away the groceries, and then tried out our nifty new connection!
For the weeks previous we've had but one cable connection, and so we would have to unplug each other's cords to use the internet. We'd ask, "Can I have your internet?" A bit weird, but fun all the same. And now, we can all be on at the same time! We celebrated by typing to each other over MSN messenger, and other things.
I really do love my roommates.
