I mean that as in the weekend itself was nice, as in the events that occurred during said weekend were nice, and then a long weekend, especially around midterms, is inherently nice.

I went home this weekend and took Nick with me. Shannon and Sid took off for up north, so it was just the three of us - Mom making three. Mom made us all kinds of excellent food. Nick and I were nerdy. We hung out with mom and talked - and Audi likes him now, in defiance of her nervous chihuahua genes - and watched movies. On Saturday we ran around shopping, some chores for mom, some just for fun. We hit up the laser tag arcade in hopes of playing some fun glow-in-the-dark golf, but the place was overrun with kids for some birthday party, and we ended up blowing ten bucks on video games and air hockey. On a whime I gave into a long game of Gauntlet, which ended up with us buying a copy of the video game and then spending hours playing it. Together, because two-player games are fun that way. Nothing more romantic than curling up on the couch with your boyfriend yelling "Kill the dragon! We need more golden icons!"

The divorce fiasco with Shannon and Sid is still more of a fiasco. Many details to be told to the Scoobies who wish to hear the complications later. Shannon and Sid are going to try to make it work. It doesn't make sense to me, it doesn't make sense to Mom, and who know what did is thinking all those thousands of miles awak. We stuck around through dinner on Sunday, and then drove back up. Today we played video games, and I did homework. I have a paper due on Wednesday and a test due on Thursday. BenTen is pulling a double shift at work, and I've agreed to pick her up in the morning. For the next couple of days I'm going to be working my tail off because I have a logic test coming up as well, and then I really have to get down and write the paper for that conference or else face certain doom.

I'm gonna be a bit stressed out these next couple of days, but somehow it's easy to get homework done in the evenings while soft jazz music is playing and Nick is all cute and curled up and asleep on the bed. Okay, working at my admittedly messy desk is not an easy task, but I'm making it work.

I figured, after a long bout of reading - and Madame Bovary is starting to drive me insane - I ought to get some work done on the laptop. Like taxes and stuff. I have a calculator up and all ready to go.

See? I can get work done. Not to mention that something in me takes a perverse pleasure in completing tasks before Nick has a chance to nag me about them. My mother gave him a list of things he can nag me about.

I am evil, aren't I?
