Life is foolish. And perhaps a little banal. Classes today...were. I got my third book in the mail today, and it didn't fit in my bookbag, so I toted it around campus hugged to my chest like a little nerd, and anyone who recognized the title probably thought I was an even bigger nerd. Why read the whole thing if you can get it in an anthology, right? Wrong. If Petersen taught me anything last semester, it's that the whole text is better than the watered-down, simplified stuff out of an anthology. So now I have some extra reading. I got ahead in my reading last week and so have been doing pretty much no homework this week. I think I'll work hard tomorrow at getting ahead and then use my weekend to work on my paper. I'll need some sort of schedule if I have any hopes at all of getting this paper written. Standing in line waiting for food I thought my shoulder was going to dislocate itself from the weight of my book bag. Ouch.

Classes were. Franklin was organized this time, so we had an actual lecture, but he let us out early again. I was tired before, but now I'm wide awake. Latin was short and sweet, and we listened to some music that was in Latin, from something called Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi (translates to something like Fortune the Empress of the World). I was surprised at how much of the music I recognized. Most people recognize O Fortuna, as it's used and abused in many medieval battle scene. The Latin drinking song amused me the most. I think only old classics professors would sit around getting drunk while singing that song. I don't think anyone else could manage it while inebriated. If you can sing that ditty drunk, you know that you know your latin.

Dinner was a mild affair. Our (okay, my) ambitious plans to go bish hunting didn't pan out, so we stuck around the cafeteria while BenTen ate. We debated the finer points of the limerick (they aren't always dirty per se, but the they are bawdy) and other things. Now I am in my room hating the way my window leaks. And trying to think of what homework I should do. I shall plan a trip to Staples, I think, to get some homework-ish things done. Mostly for Petersen's class. Yes. Such is good.
