First day home from work wasn't so bad. Moped around, ate dinner, decided to retire for the night. Thought I'd take a crack at the six-hundred page monster that is my namesake, so I curled up in bed with every intention of getting in a bit of reading. And then the noises started. Scrabbling, scratching noises at the back door, like someone was trying to work the lock and failing. I thought I heard knocking, but when I went to investigate the knocking did not occur again so I went back to bed. Said knocking repeated, louder and more insistent, so like any good kid I scooped up my bokken and went to answer the door. Very Dogma-Bethany style. Too bad there was no hot Metatron. Nope. Just my sister, her husband and the chihuahua. I gave up and went to bed, and the little yoda-rat crawled in with me, and then my sister set up a very loud round of laundry. Left the hall light on, too. So I had to try to fall asleep to that, wishing the aching out of my legs. At three AM the dog woke me because she had to go to the bathroom. I took her out, then banished her to Shaz and Sid who had set up camp down in the master bedroom.
The next morning I was rudely awakened by a phone call from my boss asking me to go in for the eleven to five shift. I had to cancel plans with Derrick and head into work. Could have been worse. Dayna, the other cashier trainee, was there, and I made friends with Corry the cart boy. I picked up from Panda Express on the way home, and then Derrick came by.
Wow but that livewire is fun. He said he'd burn me some copies, Del, and you'll probably want to see them. He found X-Japan's "Crucify My Love" music video, the video for "Rusty Nail" and the version of Forever Love that the guys did for Hide's funeral, plus some songs that I don't have. Yoshiki is really hot. And wow, Hide was so pretty. We watched the season finale of House - because Hugh Laurie is just cool - and played some Tekken before Derrick took off for some gaming.
I wrote for a bit, then retired to bed. I sent Audi off with her owners, but somehow she escaped, curled up at my feet and woke me up at four this morning. Two and a half hours later I set off for work. Today wasn't so bad, although I like Sarah a lot more than I like Ashley. She's bossy and pestered me more than the others. She took forever to get me a lunch break, too, because I worked from eight to four instead of eight to two. I got my lunch break about an hour and a half before I was set to leave the front end. At least I managed to finish the fourth volume of Ororon during my lunch break. I finally got to read the version I got for Christmas. I think I'll start back in on the Harry Potter series, because it's going to take me forever to get through the fifth book again. Looking at that giant thing I wonder how I made it through in five hours the first day. Dang...
Mom and Dad made it home early tonight, and I no longer had to inflict my own cooking upon myself. Mom and Dad made a rope, and so I'm going to make it into a noose as soon as I find the tim. Mom was also really sweet and found me an old-fashioned quill and an ink well. You all know what that means...weird letters from Nagi. I'm glad the day is over, and someone is going to pay if my day off tomorrow goes awry.
Tell Rodney I hope he had a good birthday. I'd tell him myself but somehow I don't think his cellphone works anymore. Del, is your family all right? Tonight the news said there was going to be flooding in Farmington. Glad you two made it home safe.
