Friday was a long day. Class all day, study group afterwards (during which both boys were rather lacking in concentration, and I really need to spend more time with Xiao Qian). I came home, had an hour's nap, and then Thomas and I went out on our date. It was a double date with his sister Rachel (with whom I am also friends) and her friend Levi. We went out to a Chinese buffet. I had Mongolian barbecue and some ice cream, and there were some shenanigans with chopsticks and trying to make sculptures out of our ice cream. Then we went back to Thomas and Rachel's house to watch a funny old movie called Murder By Death. Monika told me about it once, and it had a bunch of awesome actors, like Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers and a very young, attractive Maggie Smith. I had a good time - Thomas and Rachel are cool, and Levi was a nice guy.

Today was busy. I was good and out of bed at eight thirty. I spent all morning doing property, outlining chapters three and four and wanting to tear my hair out. Why can't executory interest conveyance language be more straightforward? I feel like no matter how hard I study it's not good enough. Counting breakfast and morning ablutions, lunch, dinner, and maybe an hour before bed (not counting sleep) all but four hours of my day are spent not thinking of law. Two weeks after fall break and I'm ready to crack. How sad is that? Finals are coming, I have one last paper to write, and it seems like I'm getting nowhere. I know I've learned something, but it seems I haven't learnt enough, or I just can't do it right. Not to mention I have a scholarship to keep. Argh. I'm sorta frustrated right now. It probably doesn't help that while I was doing my laundry I discovered that a pipe has burst on our floor. The floor between my door and Stacy's door has been damp for a while, and then yesterday when I went out it was dry again, and today it was soaking, and when I got home the water has moved almost past my door along the hallway to the two flats at the end. So yeah, someone needs to fix that quick.

I cleaned a bit, but not nearly enough, and then I went out to meet Thomas (yes, again) to go see the high school play some of his sisters are in. It was the Wiz, which was bright and cheerful and colorful and slightly confusing, but a modern retelling of the Wizard of Oz, and interesting. It had funny things, like the flying monkeys were the Monkees, and things like that, which I reckon most of the kids my age or younger probably missed. Thomas's family is babysitting some kids this weekend, all of whom were pretty cute, and it was sorta sweet to see Thomas holding the littlest one and getting her to go to sleep. I like his family a lot - Monika was one of my first friends, and all the older ones from Winter Quarters are leaving in December, either to go to BYU Idaho, or to go work in Arizona. My first friends here, and they're moving. It sorta makes me sad, but I promised I'd write to all of them, and we'll still be friends.

I had a good weekend overall, though. Thomas is a nice guy, and like I've said, a girl would have to be crazy or a fool to not go out with him. But I'm tired, and I think I ought to sleep.
