Happy Christmas, Merry Yule, Joyful Kwanzaa, Good Hannukah...I'm sure we all know the drill by know. Hope everyone had a great one.
Christmas Eve was fun. Shaz and I took ourselves to see The Holiday the night before because I had a couple of free tickets to use and I had an inexplicable urge to stare at Jude Law for a couple of hours. Surprisingly, the film was worth it. Now we shall see how Night at the Museum fares and my movie desires for the holidays have been fulfilled. Yay. Maybe go see The Good Shepherd as well. Christmas Eve was spent with family. We did the traditional gift exchange (Shaz and I had to skedaddle to K-Mart the night before, before we went to the movie, but we ended up having loads of fun together, more fun than I've had with her in a long time) and then Shaz and Sid went to work - because he had to work the grave.
I volunteered to babysit the chihuahua for a night. Bad idea. I was ready to go to bed by 1 am. She had no such plans, however, so I ended up awake lots. Was groggy come Christmas morning. It started well, however, with crepes and cinnamon rolls from mom, and then the presents began. Dad surprised mom with a lovely sapphire bracelet he had procured in Hong Kong. Mom and Dad surprised me with a book and an absolutely gorgeous Indian Sari. To go with it, they also found some ready-to-use henna and a stash of some of the prettiest bindis I have ever seen. Now I just have to find the right opportunity to dress up. Shaz surprised Sid with the original nintendo, Mario and Duck Hunt and all. Shaz surprised Mom with a lovely pot to decorate her garden. We all surprised Shaz with a massive doghouse for the little gimpy one. Mom surprised Sid with a remote control shaped like a football. Mom also surprised Dad with a lovely Italian marble statue of the First Vision. It was awesome all around. Christmas was a splendid turkey with all of the good extra stuff. I managed to make the pumpkin pie fluffy this year. I had a wonderful time.
I am also the proud possessor of a shiny new video iPod. Hmmm. Now I must start downloading videos, movies, and shows. And anime. Yay for portable anime. I ended up accidentally giving my Christmas greetings to Del's little brother. I texted Sei and BenTen, and BenTen called me back. I despise text messaging even more after trying to use it, but I thought it was better than dragging my friends away from their families. We watched a cool old movie called The Eagle Has Landed. I never read the book, but I read loads of the author's other books (Jack Higgins' Sean Dillon was my hero when I was a kid) and Michael Caine and Donald Sutherland are great actors. Fun movie. Though the actresses annoyed the snot out of me. Mom and I ended up watchined M:i:III together. It was better than the last one, at any rate.
Got up early this morning - to the tune of a quarter after five - with mom to hit Wal-Mart and buy marked-down Christmas items (Wrapping paper, gift boxes, cards) for next year. Came home and napped. Then ran around all day with mom and Dad. We stopped off at the bank, and then the library where they have DVD's to borrow. The collection isn't great, and most of the series are incomplete, but I came across some discs of MI5 as recommended by Megan. Watched one because I was only brave enough to rent one. Loved it. Wow. May sneak off to the library on my lunchbreak tomorrow and get the next one. That is, if I'm not reading the newest Neil books I got for Christmas. We went to Lowe's to look for things I didn't really understand that had to do with copper piping, and we went to Wal Mart where I finally gave in and bought myself an airgun so I can go plinking with soda cans in the empty lot across the street. Then we went to Costco where, oddly enough, we ran into Cousin John again. His little boy was older, and he also had a new baby girl. This time toddler Malachi was less averse to me and we had some broken conversation while the adults talked. At first I didn't recognize John, but he almost ran me down with the baby buggy while I was looking at DVD's. It was a pleasant surprise. Then we went to Best Buy, where I picked up something nifty for my iPod and came home. Spent all day chilling. Work tomorrow.
Was bad and didn't go to the gym but really don't care. Hope to get a better internet connection sometime tomorrow. Hope lots, at any rate.
