I am surviving, but it's not my favorite way to go. Got the official word. Coworker is out for a full 12 weeks. Three down. Nine to go. Got a good start on the fourth.
Last week was long, mostly endless days of court, and then some home visits and late team meetings. I was drained.
Dance class was amazing, though. So excited for the new songs we're learning, and had a good time with the girls. There were lots of cute tiny girls in beginner class, and they were so enthusiastic and unselfconscious and having fun. Reminded me what dance is about. It was just me, Naomi, and Odessa in advanced class. Worked on some really cute stuff. Now that we're more advanced Odessa lets us help with the choreography more. Also we just had girl talk, and that was nice.
This weekend wasn't really a weekend. Cody spent most of it doing hard labor in the yard to help my brother-in-law, who is sick. I helped my mom watch the kids (while my dad helped in the yard as well, as did my brother-in-law's brothers) and cook and do some cleaning. Helped wrangle the dogs. There was puzzle dice, lots of coloring. Some naps. I watched Moana for the first time, which was fun. One night I was so tired that I fell asleep at 9:30. Pretty embarrassing.
Went to the Polynesian festival with my sister and the kids, which was fun. My nephew is finally okay with me, lets me hold him and carry him and the like. He's super cute. Also very tough, coordinated, and strong. At the bounce palace suite, he really wanted to go down one of the big slides. I was nervous about him doing it, but he climbed up himself and slid down himself and it was pretty awesome.
Also the kids helped me bake. Marina helped mix the cake batter, and she put the cupcake liners in the baking tray. Once the cupcakes were baked, both Marina and Noah helped frost the cupcakes and shake sprinkles onto the frosting.
We ended up using the cupcakes for a combined birthday party both for my husband and my niece. There was dinner at a buffet and then cupcakes and candles and presents and cards. Marina had an earache one day, was sick another. Noah coughed all weekend. Apparently my brother-in-law was rocking a fever one night.
He did come with us to my father-in-law's birthday concert (that he was too injured to attend). I'm not much into thirty-minute prog rock anthems, but those musicians were incredibly talented and put on a good show, and we had a good time.
Cody and I are both burned out and exhausted. Cody is helping the Scouts with their metal-working badge this week. They said it would just be three boys. Turns out it'll be eight. So we were up fairly late cleaning out the garage/forge for the kids to use. And I have to help watch over the kids tonight, because hot metal and heavy tools.
I think Cody and I both could have used at least one day this weekend to do, well, nothing to recharge. Cody has a Scout campout this weekend. Just one night overnight. So Naomi and I are going to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark - with a live soundtrack by the symphony orchestra. It's going to be awesome times.
You know how I know I'm burned?
Words.
I think I'm out of words...
