And one step back.

So, my morning writing went pretty well every day this week...except Friday. My poor novel is limping along, but my other novella that's in editing has been getting positive feedback, so once I get that back with a chance of edits I hopefully will have something worth sending out into the readers' universe. On the other hand, Friday was full of awesome, because I went out with my husband and friends and we had super tasty Indian food...and then we signed organization papers. Once our lawyer files them tomorrow, we will be an official company. Sure we don't have any money and at this point only have three books to our name, but it's a start, and I'm really excited. Afterward, my girl Angela (who was our lawyer for the purposes of drafting the organization papers) came back to our place to see it for the first time and also meet Little Miss Ivy. She also sang for us! We went through some Offspring and Red Hot Chili Peppers before we settled on some Nirvana (Angela bemoaned that she was in high school when Kurt Cobain committed suicide), and between the three of us - bass, drums, vocals - we managed to get along fairly well. Now all we need is a guitarist.

Dancing went well this week, but once winter sets in there is no way I'm going to make a 160-mile round trip to go dancing every weekend. Can't afford it, and it will just also be dangerous. But still, I really like the ladies I dance with, and we had good times. Also, I found out from one of the dancers who had a baby last year - the whole belly dancing is good for child bearing thing is totally legit. Core strength and internal muscle control means for a more comfortable pregnancy and easier birth. Not that birth is really all that easy, but still. That was comforting to know. I just need to pull together pieces of a costume and learn the second dance. If there's one thing I can do, it's learn choreography. It's how I survived in Kenpo for as long as I did, memorizing combos and techniques.

Cooking went well this week. Since my mother has been on Pinterest and I have had a crazy schedule, I used my crock pot a lot. Usually I use it for things like stew, but this week I made chicken for tacos and also lasagna. The chicken ended up being a bit spicy, but the lasagna was delicious, and I am pretty proud of my cooking experiments going as well as they did. Also, the jello cookies - cookies made with jello mix - were super tasty. When one is allergic to chocolate, one misses chocolate chip cookies fiercely, so I am always on the lookout for easy non-chocolate cookie recipes.

Ivy was pretty darn good this week. Yesterday and today she was super well-behaved outside of her pen in my office (hiding from the fireworks my neighbors' grandchildren set off illegally) and also hanging out in the living room with the people when we had company over. But then she up and peed on my carpet, which resumed cruel use of the nickname "Carpet Pisser" and her being banished outside. She likes the new toy I got her that I can put food in, which makes me pretty happy. I tried freezing the food I put in to make it more of a challenge. I don't know if that worked or if she just waited till the food melted before getting the food out of the toy. We shall see. Nevertheless, the food makes for an entertaining toy for her, and a happy Ivy makes me happy.

Crafting has gone pretty well this week. I've managed to fit together the bodice and sleeves of the little coat I am making for my niece. All that's left is to stitch on the skirt and add some buttons. I am not sure when I am going to have time to do all this, especially since I volunteered to cook a meal for a lady having a baby this week and also to babysit her kids and also my Spanish class starts this week, but I will finish my niece's birthday present.

My French lessons on duolingo are going really well, but then I did take French for years, so these first dozen levels or so are probably just going to be revision. My Spanish class starts this week, and I am both excited and nervous. Also, I got called to teach Sunday school, the adult class, and naturally my first lesson is on a subject I'm rather cynical about, so I'm going to have to swallow my pride and teach it well. Also, I am teaching an AP History class on Constitution Day for CLE credit, which is going to be interesting. I am pretty sure I am not what the teacher will expect in a lawyer, so that's going to be refreshing for the white bread Utah Valley kids who will be populating this class. Still, I am nervous, because I honestly cannot remember the last time I talked to an actual teenager without the conversation involving the exchange of money for fast food.

Also...I have come down with a cold. Earlier today I thought my watery eyes and runny nose were from the super spicy pico de gallo Cody made, but by sundown I knew it was a full-on cold. Thankfully we have a hefty supply of chrysanthemum tea, honey, and Dayquil and Nyquil, so I should be okay. When BenTen said she was feeling sick on Friday, I should have listened and not hugged her at dinner.

Cody and I had a lovely day on Saturday. Well, I spent most of Saturday with a migraine from the rain and some nausea on the side, but when we went shooting he made friends with another blacksmith who offered to show him some tips and tricks. Also we had Mexican food at an awesome restaurant in town. Cody was so happy to be eating good food, and I was happy to see him so happy. Also, we had Justin and Shannon over for a late lunch/early dinner today for Cody's birthday. Cody cooked, and it tasted amazing, and then we hung out and talked afterward. It was good times.

I talked to my mom over Skype and showed her how to use Skype, Pinterest, and email on her Kindle because dad is selling her laptop. Now she won't have to boot up the computer to contact us kids anymore, and it made her happy. She's getting better at this tech savvy thing, and it always impresses me. Also, I've been watching second season Once Upon a Time, and I'm not entirely sure I like Mulan, but it's been fun so far.

Here's to me getting well soon so I can get done the things I need to.

Have a good week, all :)
