I have tried to post this so many times it isn't even funny.

So...last week, one of the best and worst ever. Best because I spent a weekend down in SLC with my bestest friend in the whole wide world, my girl Ericka, and her seriously rockin' fiance Rowsdower, who has been a friend of mine since college. He helped me make my mother's Christmas present - and he was super fast about it too. He also gave me my Christmas present early, an Enochian angel-banishing sigil from SPN fandom that he carved himself in mammoth-bone. It's awesome. He was really nice about ferrying me and ERicka around the city to look at Christmas presents, wedding presents, and more. There was a cool little craft fair for Christmas at the Trolley Square mall, and I picked up some cute flowers for my hair. I also saw some awesome origami jewelry that I would love to learn how to make. Because you know I totally could make it. We also had some of the best Thai food ever. I miss Thai food. Espcially satay chicken with peanut sauce. And they had really good curry puffs. I like being around Ericka because she brings me to life. We have intellectually and philosophical debates, and we dream about our publishing house (which I need to do more work on if we want any hope in helll of making it a reality), and we just have a really good time. Cody had applied to all kinds of fancy schools, but more and more I think SLC would be our best bet. I'd have friends, we'd have a built in support network, and I'd be able to keep my job and work from home, which would especially be ideal if we do end up having a kid in the next year or so. Trying to find work while you're pregnant and pretty much due for maternity leave? Not easy.

Last week I ended up working from home for two days because of headaches and nausea. It's been happening more lately. Cody says it'll happen wherever we end up, but the truth of the matter is, it was never this bad before I moved her. I had some raging headaches in Omaha, enough to get me to actually go and consult a doctor, but having headaches for days on end isn't fun. Maybe it's just as bad as it was in Omaha but having a job where I have to be on focus all day as opposed to having classes where I can hunker down and hdie and pay less attention has made the problem more acute. Who knows. But I do not trust the weather.

This week has been an adventure and a half. Work was pretty quiet until today, when Texas decided to have its Thursday freak-out. But I am suriviing. I got the worst of my heavy research projects done last week, so this week I've been doing pick-up tasks and other fine things. I conducted my first employee training ever, which wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be. I can see why lawyers and their clients don't get along. They think we;re boring and a waste of time. We think they're lazy and should pay attention so we don't have to defend them rom a million-dollar lawsuit later on down the line.

Dancing is going mildly well. I can remember once dance at the expense of the other, but at least the dance I can remember is the one I'm performing on Saturday, so that's what counts. I went shopping last night with my mother-in-law and Cody. Poor Cody had to suffer through clothes shopping with girls and being constantly outnumbered by women whose opinions about what was fashionable and cute on me differed from his own. Honestly, I sided with him, so that was all right. And I did need a new pair of jeans. As it turns out, clothes shopping with his mother is kind of like shopping with mine - tey both think what would look cute on me is basically miniature versions of what they'd wear, which meansa my mom picks out stuff a forty-year-old woman should wear, and Cody's mom thinks I'm half my actual size because she's super skinny, and also she thinks I should wear bulky sweaters. I think the most fun Cody had was when we were looking at shirts together and I dismissed them in the most literary terms possible. I liked one shirt, but it was a little too "running through the jungle being chased by terrorists". Another sweater I disliked looked like someone had masticated several ginger cats and then coughed up all their fur into the shape of a sweater. (Thanks, Sarah Rees Brennan.) For the rest of the night, it was the ginger cat sweater. And then there was a coat that looked like someone had skinned a polar bear, made a coat, and then removed the sleeves to make. I told Cody's mom it would make me look like an Eskimo hooker. Apparently Cody's mother is not used to casual refernces to ladies of the night.

But we picked out a nice watch for my Christmas gift (that I am pretending I don't know about) and we had dinner together, and it was nice, in the end. Clothes shopping always makes me anxious. Some days I really miss having a school uniform.

This week I need to write more on my novel, pay my baar fees and get up-to-date on my bar licensure, finish making Christmas presents, dance at a party, and also go dance at Kieran's last gig before he moves to SLC.

And I want to go see Pitch Perfect.

Don't judge me.

Also, my new coworker Cory? She is awesome.

Aaaand....this week's post:

So...I tried to post the above stuff earlier, but...it didn't work. For some reason. I think my phone hates me sometimes. I wrote on my lunch break.

So I am putting two posts in one, which I suppose is kind of cheating, but this is life, and also modern technology, Cody's younger brother got a job down in Salt Lake City, so Friday night was his last gig with his band. Cody, his mom, and I went down to Pokey to the bar where the band was playing for one last good time and also to dance. Cody's mom even danced, even though she insisted she doesn't know how to dance anymore. Cody danced with me, which was super sweet, and also good times. I danced a few times by myself, which I figured was good practice for the performance the next day.

And the next day...well, woke up kinda late, and then the menfolk took my car to get new tires for the winter, which ended up being an awesome choice, and now my car rides much better. I ran errands, but because I was late I had no choice but the rush home, shower, throw on my costume, and then run errands in my costume. Awkward, and also kind of chilly. Belly dancing costumes were not made for snowy weather in Idaho Falls. But I got the last of my Christmas presents made, so that's what counts. All that's left now is to buy Cody's and wrap it sometime when he's not around, and then I'm good to go for Christmas. I have some last wrapping and assembling to get done, and maybe also some writing, but my festive little stash of gifts is growing, and I'm super excited about it.

Here's to getting good stuff done this week. Also, my best friend from high school is getting married on Friday. I've never even met the guy, which kind of weirds me out, but I'm excited for her, because she seems so happy, so I'm going to drive down to SLC to witness the sealing ceremony. While I'm there I'll probably say hi to some friends and family between the sealing and the reception, but it will probably be a one-day trip. I also found out one of my friends from law school is having twin girls, which totally threw me for a loop because I didn't think she was the having kids kind. Shows me what I know.

Let's go, Team Christmas!
