Is not the same as finished.

Today was a good lazy day - I actually sat on my couch in my pajamas for a solid hour making lace and watching Angel before Jenny called. We went hiking at the Lewis & Clark monument in Council Bluffs. It was fun and a good work-out - we played on the rope swing, and we enjoyed the pretty green, and overall it was good times. We talked about life and boys and the future (which freaks us out à la Motion City Soundtrack), and then I came home. I ate, changed, and went into the office. Prepped for my last court appearance as a student (and my next appearance had better be for my swearing in, so help me), and then we went to court.

My client was the best default divorce client ever. He was articulate, didn't screw up the answers to the questions, and had actually made decent efforts at reconciliation before calling it quits. Not that most clients don't make decent efforts, but when I ask about their reconciliation efforts, I usually get a terrible inarticulate answer. The judge was very patient with me, and I remembered to speak slowly and clearly. I watched a dude in an orange jumpsuit plead out to two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance. It seemed so painfully formulaic - the judge had memorized his questions, the lawyers had memorized their answers, and the inmate had to remember to tack a "sir" on the end of a "yes" or a "no".

Afterwards I got my signed decrees, gave one to the client, and the boss and I headed back to the clinic. I am all caught up on my hours, but I still had some paperwork to do. On the way into school I ran into the nice girl from the Side Bar who calls me "Salad", and she was surprised to see me looking all nice for court. It was fun playing lawyer. I got my paperwork prepped, and the next thing I know...the printer won't work. I told the office manager that I'd wait to hear back from the law school's IT guy, and then he reported that the entire lawschool print server was down.

So I have to go back in tomorrow to get paperwork done. Whatever.

I came back to my place and ate - and I've been ravenously hungry since finals ended, which is the reverse of how I felt during finals, and my flat is distressingly low amounts of food - and started working on my mother's day gift for Mom. I got inspired to make this gift for mom after getting end-of-year nostalgic on facebook at 2 a.m. the night before, and I got most of the stuff assembled, but I'm stuck on one component, so I am consulting my sister, whose artistic sensibilities are mine.

I met up with the sister missionaries for some investigator time down at the institute, hit B&N briefly to indulge myself with a birthday gift card, and then went to bellydancing. It was just me and Della, so we did some intense zill work. Apart from doing one cabaret dance with zills, I really hadn't used them much before, and she said I'm a natural, which is awesome. Also, apparently bellydancing is cross-training for ninjitsu. I learned how to do a tunnel figure eight, and one she explained it in terms of me using some of the punching muscles in my sides, I figured out how to do it right, even though it feels weird.

Today was, overall, a good day. I'm just worried about my shoulder, because testing is tomorrow, and I know it'll be gruelling. Also, for my last exam gift, my mom got me the greatest gift ever, a t-shirt that says "Be careful, or you will end up in my novel". I love it. I'm gearing up for fun and panic and the rest of my life. It's going to be awesome.
