Day 1254: Tumbling down
Jul. 11th, 2016 02:54 pmSo this past week was kinda rough. There's something about four-day weeks that just make work extra crazy. Because its summer so many people - caseworkers, lawyers, judges - are taking time off, so things are inconsistent. And summer just makes things go crazy in general. Between that one lawyer getting fired and my caseload getting shuffled, it was rough.
The highlights:
Cub scouts was good! Only one cub showed up so we talked about camping preparedness and made trail mix. The leftover chocolate chips and M&M's made for useful disciplineenhancers when we taught the five-year-olds' Sunday school class.
Dance was good. We're burning through the choreography in beginner class. Advanced
class a rough because veil work is so technical, and I feel like an ugly duckling doing it, but we'll work on it. Angela came over on Thursday night and we ate pizza, started watching Sanctuary, and did some dance practice and may or may not have caused a traffic incident by dancing in the yard?
On Friday night we went to a concert, which was open-air. We sat on a blanket on
a grassy hill (and may or may not have crashed Angela's mom's date) and had a little picnic and enjoyed the symphony orchestra plus live singers including a PMJ singer) doing 70's & 80's hits. We even got up and danced. It was fun! So we plan on going to more concerts this summer.
Saturday we met up with my old college friends and planned out cabin
getaway for August. There was good food, Nerf wars and talk of books. which we all love. Of course, the running undercurrent for last week was Cody's continued stress at the lab and one of my kids going AWOL (and two more kids trying and an old adoption disrupting) and work lingered, all weekend. It was rough.
Today started out pretty bad but lunch break with Cody really helped and I
think we're going to be okay. Prayers answered.
