As far as work weeks go, last week was super chill. No court. Just meetings and visits and more meetings.

As far as social weeks go, it was crazy busy. I took Cody to the airport really early Monday morning. It was nearly 36 hours before I finally heard from him. As a result his mother has been calling me much more frequently than usual to make sure he is alive. I advised him several times to email her. I don't know if he did. I may or may not have sent a slightly panicked email to his academic advisor professor person asking if he knew if my husband was alive.

On Monday Angela and I went to the opening concert of KISS's 40th anniversary tour. Why KISS would start their tour in SLC baffled me, but Angela said it was pretty common. We went with Cody's brothers and parents and one of his brother's friends. We missed the opening act but caught Def Leppard. They were pretty good. KISS was entertaining, but I am super creeped out by Gene Simmons's tongue.

On Tuesday I went to the dentist, and then to my neighbor's funeral. It was a lovely service. She was an incredible woman. Her husband is basically a saint, and two days letter he was letting me pick raspberries out of his garden. Come on over, he said. No need to announce yourself. Take what you need. He even gave me a ride home after the neighborhood walkabout.

My girl Angela has been crashing with me while Cody is gone. This has resulted in copious cooking, copious watching of Stargate, and lots of fun. On Wednesday, Angela went to belly dance class with me. It was super good times. My girl Maleena came over on Thursday night, and we watched a whole lot of Stargate. Thursday was also the day Cody's grandma's baby grand piano arrived, and so I have been digging out books of old sheet music and going to town. Friday Angela and I stayed up super late watching Stargate. On Saturday I went to game with BenTen and the gang. She is running a super cool vampire game that starts during the Chicago World's Fair, and then it will jump through future decades as we ride the same characters to the apocalypse. The first session was super fun, and I had a great time.

Sunday was a good day. More food and Stargate. Today was wall-to-wall court.

The biggest surprise of last night was my friend Russell showing up. I hadn't seen him since before I went to law school. I heard when he got married and went to Afghanistan, and I heard when he got back he was in nursing school. But I hadn't seen him in years. He blew through town on his way down south to see my old boyfriend Justin, and Justin sent him my way. We talked. We caught up. It was so good to see him again.

I am super looking forward to 4th of July weekend with my parents and Angela and our friend Breezy. Most of all, I am looking forward for Cody to coming home on Sunday. For all that my husband was gone and I expected to be lonely and bored, it's been crazy busy.
