So this week has, for the most part, been pretty good. Unfortunately, I only made it to bed before eleven one night, and even then it was after being a bit obstinate and just flinging myself into bed and refusing to be social, so I've been kind of tired all week.

Adelina makes fun of Timothy for being stressed out and too uptight, but with him gone for a week and me taking on his workload, I can see why. People are sending requests down the pipe to him left and right, and trying to prioritize them and get them all done without ticking anyone off is a trick and a half. Not to mention it seemed like everyone wanted something crazy and weird when Timothy was gone. I've learned some new tricks to drafting contracts, and I have tackled all but two of my tasks for the week (I got thirty of them in, and they can take anywhere from twenty minutes to five hours to complete), and so life is all right. Also, someone in the office is super nice and brings in free cookies. I should do the same, because sugar makes me happy and helps me concentrate (and may also be making me fat, because I basically couldn't fit into my temple dress on Friday night, which was awkward but also funny). Also, we got free pizza on Friday for lunch, so that was good times.

I am making progress on my CLEs, and I made mother's day gifts today, but my writing and other crafting continues to fail (although I did tat some lace while I was at the stake conference sessions, because otherwise I'd have fallen asleep and snored really loudly and embarrassed my husband). Cody and I went swing dancing on Wednesday night, which was lots of fun. It's a dollar for a married couple, and the first hour is instruction. We can barely do the lindy hop together, but we can do a basic swing, and we had fun - especially watching some of the more advanced couples. We reckon if we go regularly we can get pretty good at it.

We went to see the Avengers movie. Awesome. Written and directed by Joss Whedon, so full of snappy dialogue, fast-paced and humorous action, and gritty emotional moments too. I had a great time, although 3D movies kinda make me dizzy. Having no real TV means we never see movie commercials, so I have to get the low-down from my mom, and I'm thinking I might want to go see Dark Shadows. I thought that was kind of a stupid name for a movie (it sounds like the name of an ill-fated fanfic written by a twelve-year-old girl whose only other previous literary experience is a bank-breaking text message record). But now I see it has some sort of weird irony going for it. On the other hand, my mother is a very frightening Johnny Depp fan, so that might have something to do with her wanting to go see the film.

I started watching Legend of the Seeker. I read the first book in the Sword of Truth series my very first year of college. Neither of the characters were how I pictured them, but I am enjoying the show anyway. I keep waiting for the awesome moment when Kahlann gets super offended that Richard offered her an apple because red fruit are poison, and Richard avoids getting saddled with a chieftain's daughter because he eats red fruit and may not be able to have children, but it hasn't happened yet, so I'm kind of disappointed, but it's entertaining and funny. Too many slow-mo fighting shots, I think, but it's fun all the same.

The big highlight of the week was me winning a contest. First time I've ever won a contest, but I won - it was a blog contest for SRB and Saundra Mitchell. And I won! Free books. I'm super excited. Once I finish this volume of Ray Bradbury I reckon I will do my best to start writing some more. My writing has seriously suffered.

Also, Cody's friend Steven (the one who helped set us up on our first date) came to visit. And he brought Cody a graduation-birthday-Christmas gift: a twelve-gauge pump-action shotgun.

Team Amber-and-Cody grows a little more armed and dangerous with each special occasion.

Cody and I celebrated our six-month anniversary on Friday by doing proxy sealings at the temple. I bought him a .22 conversion kit for his assault rifle, so he can shoot cheaper .22 ammo.

He bought me a bobbin winder.

We're that kind of couple.

Some of the best fun I had this week was talking legal research issues with my friend. Research is the most fun when the information you find is weapons for a fight. I was made to be either a writer or a litigator, and anything in between is, I think, just intellectual laziness for me.

Till next week!
