So life has been good. I hit a weird patch of malaise early today, but I got cured, so it's all good.

Monday was a good day. Spent most of the day happy. Did fancy things like clean my flat, put some honest-to-goodness effort into sorting out the madness that is my filing cabinet (which resulted in loads of piles of paper all over my floor). Best part of the day, hands down, was getting my oath card in the mail. As soon as I got it, I called my mom, and then I sent a text message to Amber, and she helped me get it all set up, so tomorrow, at 2:30, I'm getting sworn in in front of Judge Otepka, who was very nice to me when I was a student at the clinic (but I seriously doubt he remembers me). After I got that business sorted I ran down to get some business cards made (because I'm all professional now, and dude, I have business cards). After I got that business sorted, I headed to the bookstore to pick up some exam gifts for Cody (and I know why my mom gets so excited about buying gifts). I did call-backs on jobs (and got one rejection letter - boo! But it was the nicest rejection letter yet) and then went visiting teaching, for the first time, with my new companion Sharon, who is super cool. We taught Kayla, which was rockin' awesome, because she's a cool girl, and then I ran home and ate, and went to FHE.

I ducked out of the activity, and we gamed. Finished our campaign.

You heard me. We finished an entire campaign. Both phases of it. After FHE Kile followed me home and graciously donated some gaming manuals to me so I can start plotting the next half of our game (Grimm D20 which will eventually become D20 Modern Urban Arcana), and then I called Cody, and it was awesome.

Tuesday was also a good day. I did running around in the morning, like buying a shredder and shredding paper and doing useful things with my day, like sorting out the payment of student loans and the like, and then I went in to the office. After the office I went home and cooked - genuinely cooked, from start to finish. Cooked some chicken, mixed it with cream cheese, mushrooms, rosemary, and thyme, and wrapped it in crescent rolls, and baked it - a recipe Angela did once that I liked and wanted to try again. It came out awesome. I ate half the batch all by myself (more thyme next time, and maybe some extra cheddar or something), and then ran off to a basketball game with Amber and Will. The first half of the game was great, and we were winning, but we got burned the second half.

We went down to Old Chicago to drown our sorrows in orange cream soda and nachos, and we talked and laughed. I've never really hung out with Amber and Will together, and the three of us had a riotous good time, talking about life, school, law school, dating, boys and girls. The waiter totally flirted with Will, which he was oblivious to. Will and I talked movies (Nolan brothers, Coen brothers, Wachowski brothers, Aronofsky); Amber and Will talked sports. A football game was on, which Amber and Will went wild about. Cody called while I was hanging out with them, which was crazy and loud and full of the peanut gallery, but he took it with aplomb.

Before I fell asleep last night, I realized, to my horror, that I have no malpractice insurance, which I am required by law to have before I can take any cases, so I've been calling around to my solo friends finding out how and what and who. It's been freaking me out all day. After chores this morning, I went into the office. Yesterday I spent an awful lot of time shredding paper (both at home and at the office - call me Master Shredder), and today I spent most of my time multitasking - calling and scanning. I've discovered I like multitasking because I'm a little ADD and being busy constantly makes the day go by faster. Also, I feel more confident about myself if I know I'm capable of multiple tasks. After the office I picked up Angela from the airport, and we agreed to hang out, and I invited her to my swearing in, and then I went home. Had supper. Wrote. Was half an hour late for visiting teaching with QiQi because I fail to check my own calendar, but when I got there Sharon was already there and we talked and had an awesome time. QiQi is a super good girl and very cool and there are so many awesome girls in my ward I need to hang out with more. Hanging out with her and Sharon really cheered me up.

So now...now it's back to hunting for malpractice insurance...only I got sidetracked by Amber on Facebook, which sent me hunting for the NE bar rules on malpractice insurance. Turns out it's not required, so I can start taking appointments without it, get to it ASAP. Now I must scurry off and write a letter that sounds good to give to judges along with a shiny business card.

This is my last night as a non-lawyer in the state of Nebraska.

This growing up thing remains scary, but I'm excited that I'm getting there.

Also, today there was a shooting at Millard South HS. I didn't think this was one of those cities.
