Day 940: Freak and proud of it
Oct. 16th, 2010 06:09 pmOh yes, I am such a freak, and I love every moment of it. So...I made it back to Omaha in good time. Angela and I went grocery shopping and I got her caught up on the first five episodes of Season 3 Merlin, and also some Glee, and then she took off. I have shamefully spent the last couple of days reading fanfic again (I know, I know, I said I was giving it up, but I am weakweakweak), but I've done useful things besides, like give away some shoes, get my student loans in something resembling order, and also setting up an appointment to get my eyes checked (now that the endless studying is DONE!).
On Friday night I went training for the first time in too long, and goodness gracious, my high dives and distance dives are so, so broken, but it felt good to get back in the game. We learned some seriously cool high rank techniques (I think I need to learn some more control), and then we free-sparred (I need to work on moving at angles and also not breaking the black belts' necklaces when I attempt a choking grab), and overall it was good, and I wasn't even that sore afterward.
Today...today is what makes me a freak. Because I got up early. And went to Sensei Green's, where I trained again. We started off with some basic staff work. (His neighbors looked highly entertained at all of us on the driveway swinging around staffs, especially since his looks like something to be wielded by Merlin more than a ninja.) We also did some basic defense techniques (I think I have finally learned the finger whip of evil pain), and then inside we free-sparred which was fun. And you know what we did afterwards? We danced. Oh yeah. Sensei Green has apparently been taking ballroom dances, so he and I waltzed, and we did some swing, and I waltzed with little Andrea, and Sensei Green and Angela did some salsa and...oh. As much as I appreciate traditional structure in a dojo, I can see why Cody loves the freelance way his instructors run things.
Today was the best Saturday in a while.
And now...now it is time for Merlin!
